Bro, based on ur hotel and fixed restaurant... so high class, no wonder a lot bros here cannot help u.. haha
here are some idea for you.. (not in order)

1. I noticed you have a day which is totally free. Why no book a day tour to cu chi tunnel or Mekong delta. You can try viator.com to find a suitable tour.
2. I notice your dinner are mostly fixed, not sure when it ends. However, you can try catch some really nice show at the Saigon opera house. www.luneproduction.com
3. alternatively, you may want to try some of the skybar in Saigon such as AB tower, Helipad at Bitexco or Air 360 at benh thanh tower.
4. for lunch, there are several to choose from, from ngon restaurant, to Cantonese dish from dim tu tac Q4 or Q5, san fu lou at AB tower to a lot a lot... check trip advisor.
5. Massage 137 is well known in this forum. Lots of good review by ppl here. they open almost 24/7.
6. There are also beer garden/beer club you can try to venture. such as Fox beer club at ham nghi. or POC POC beer garden.
7. if you are traveling with kids, you can try dam sen water park... kids can play water. male adult can oogle at bikini girls.. lol
8. Try local? try pho quynh at 323 pham ngu lao rd. one of my personal fav.
9. Vietnam is pretty famous for coffee. So if you have time, why not spend some time and enjoy some coffee at Trung Nguyen Legend available throughout Saigon.
10. not forgetting tons of adult entertainment KTV.. etc...

Hahaha those fixed are arrange by company. Not that i have a choice though. Anyway cu chi or mekong delta is better? Mekong delta can go without tour? How to go and whole day there? Also with those fixed how much shld i exchange from sgd?

So I wish to go vietnam during mid april but I have not booked anything yet. I am undecided on Hanoi or Saigon. Seems like Saigon is more attractive but Hanoi has halong bay and everyone says Hanoi has more things to see.

Trip should be around 4 days. Also wish to tailor in vietnam, any recommendations?

those popular ones are vincome , parkson, etc ...

those malls are pretty bad, you should check out Takashimaya in Saigon Centre, joint venture between Takashimaya Singapore and Keppel Land, it's newly opened

Diamond Plaza near the central post office is also much more popular than Vincom and Parkson

normally i only go around d1.
You can try go their day tour to mekong delta.
They would bring you 2 hours away from town area for a day tour
you can buy rice cracker , coconut candy, etc

For cashew nuts with skin, normally would buy at d1, 500g for 6sgd ...
you can go their factory to buy, just buy one from d1, then see their brand
google where their factory is, then can go there and buy, if u think is worth, and if you are buying more

for nearest beach resort, you may have to head to Vũng Tàu

if just for street food or dining, beer, coffee or souvenir shopping, D1 (district 1 area around Bến Thành) will be good enough

for branded items, please do not buy there ...
unless you have your own source
things in hcm are way expensive than singapore, due to lower demand in that area

hcm d1 area is not near any beach ...
you might want to venture out of the town if you want to go beach
however, the people in hcm, even for taxi driver, they hardly understand english

d1 you google ben thanh market, you would be able to see
that is the place where there are lots of 3 stars hotel and many tourists area
You can try those zi cha food place ...
becareful, cox they would charge u more you order 10 dish. you will see 12 or 13 dishes on your receipt , which is in vietnamese language You can only rely on the qty, in numbers, to check if they have charge you extra ...

so far, many times went to hcm, always got charged extra...
we have to argue with the gal, she initially just act blur
when we showed her the image of the food (we taken earlier), told her why this is 3 qty,. not 2, then she bo bian, refund us the extra amt ...

If you want to try street food, better buy insurance or bring medicine
many friends tried those food on the street, like those rojak type.
puke in the hotel , perhaps the food is not hygiene ...

d1 have many 2 to 3 stars hotel
hcm hotels normally smaller scale, for 3* hotels ...
their rooms normally below 60 rooms for 3 stars ...
most hotels "talk big" on their room size, is their culture my guess

nope. hcm shopping is totally diff from bkk . if u like shopping alot, hcm malls might not suit you

for 3* hotels, budget is normally around 40+ to 50+
most 3* hotels that i have stayed in, their breakfast not nice, like econ rice
some of the better ones that i have shortlisted :

Vien Dong, Lan Lan 1 , Lan Lan 2
Blue Diamond, elios, le duy

Have also stayed at 4* hotels before. their brekafast is much more better
if you willing to stay 100sgd per nite , you can go for them

D5 is not far. being there everytime I visit hcm cos of the dim sum
no pickpockets

the fare include luggage 30kg right?
do they serve any food or drink during the 1hr flight?
