my was in hcmc ... not sure about hanoi though ...

The airport at hcmc n Hanoi has always been stuck up people
Random checking or certain custom officers will demand to see a return ticket.
It is targeting at all people not only singaporeans.
So always print out ur travel itinerary
Don't give them any excuse to make u lose unnecessary money
Use uber or grab as a cheaper alternative to taxis n fake taxis.
Uber to district 1 Ben Thanh is like 85k dong only

bus cheaper leh lol
Take bus 153 is only 5K dong with aircon and abt same time to reach D1.
Recently, they bought new buses.

Intend to travel from da lat to da nang then to ha long bay. Coach faster or train ?
My plan is
Hcm - Da lat 4 days- da nang/Hoi an 4 days - ha long bay 2 days - hcm

Hoi An to Ha Long Bay is too far.
overnight 16 hour bus will take u from Danang/HoiAn to Hanoi first.
From Hanoi to HLB is another half a day.

First step is the the data only SIM card at any of the airports.
Secondly, for transportation, use UBER and GRAB. ( which is widespread in Hanoi & HCM )
Get data+voice sim. When you book grab or uber, the driver will need to call you to confirm the booking and location.

Wa. Like this like spend 1 day travelling... So is more advisable to take flight from da nang to Hanoi, then bus over to hlb?

Certainly buddy. U see Danang to Hanoi... its very far. If u take a bus from Danang to Hanoi, it will make stops at Hue. Got to wait 3-4 hours and may need to change bus.
you could also fly to haiphong.
