Preferred currency is still vietnamese dong. There's no way they will reject accepting VND. Some angmoh tourists dont like to carry VND and they get "punished" by paying in USD which after conversion is much higher than VND.
Always carry VND with you and pay in VND as the preferred method.

how do you know the price is much higher in usd? please give figures.

they based their prices in usd and of course you can opt to pay in vnd or even in sgd. they will then convert to vnd for you using their own rates which is often not in your favour.

The only time i know they quoted in USD is when you're calling for a chick. Ha ha.
No, i never have to pay in USD. Not even once.

you still don't get the point. i'm not saying you have to pay in usd.

people were arguing whether it's better pay in dong or usd. if prices are first set in usd (e.g hotel, airport transfer, tour costs), paying in vnd will mean the merchant will apply conversion often not in your favour.

it is best to get quotes first in usd and dong and calculate yourself which currency is cheaper.

btw, no need to mention the chicks. brothers who frequent hcm and think they can speak for the whole of vietnam, cannot be visiting hcm for other reasons :)

You're searching for departure from vietnam. Tigerair display air fares in USD. There is an option to change it to vnd in the web version. Jetstar display in vnd though.

that's why i said ex-vietnam. tickets departing from a country should be priced in the local
currency.

why would i use ex-singapore or ex-malaysia as example? they are priced in sgd and myr.

Other than at Tan Son Nhat airport where they quote everything in USD, where else quote in USD? Hotels quote in VND. To be honest, theres no sense in paying in USD at all. The rates are often much higher.
