Thanks for the advice. I can get the sim card at the airport or at old quarter?
50cents for bracelet is cheap. Do u guys tips the guide or villagers who ask u to buy something?

yes, get from reputable seller. Many reported half way credit all gone or the 10days sim card can only use for 3days. When I trek by myself, I look at google map to find the POIs along the way. But asking the locals would be better, it's free (or buy a 50cents bracelet).

Just got back from Da Nang/Hoi An. Would recommend stay in Da Nang for those who like city life. For information, I stay in Hoi An and there is a hourly shuttle to Da Nang for 110K VND. Stupid me did not know, so was taking Grab bike for the few days to reach Da Nang...40min on bike and the Grab bike is around 100K VND. Hope this information is useful.

Between Hoi An and DaNang there is a yellow, public bus #1. It stops just outside Hoi An city centre (about 10 min walk) and runs thru DaNang centre (here it has several, market stops). As of February 2016 the price is 20.000 dong. The price is listed on the door and inside the bus. It may read 17k, but the updated correct fare is 20k. Text size vary, it may be in the back. The whole trip takes about 40-50 min. On the bus they try to charge foreigners 50,000 dong, or more (aka close to the price of private vans from a hotel in Hoi An to the airport in Da Nang). Locals may support the scam by pretending they are also paying 50,000 dong, insist on the fare and they will lower it to 30,000, insist and pay the official one. Expect no change if you have a 20,000 dong note. So; have exact change, stay calm, be polite, firm/unbudging and point to the pricetable. They will budge! Though it may not be pretty. Up to you if the hassle is worth 10k. :o

Depending on your budget ...
hcm is 1.5 hours distance ...
SQ good promo price is about $198 normally
hanoi is 3.5 hours, $238 by SQ and silkair during good promo ...

Hi, I'm planning a 6 days trip to Hanoi in late Dec. Here is my draft itinerary.
Day 1: arrive Hanoi late morning. walk around Hanoi in day, night train to Sapa
Day 2: Sapa
Day 3: fansipan, Sapa. Then night train back to Hanoi
Day 4: halong Bay overnight cruise
Day 5:halong Bay, Hanoi city
Day 6:Hanoi
Day 7: late morning back to sg.

Is this itinerary too rushed? Am I spending too much time touring hanoi city? If yes, should I spend one more day in Sapa or halong Bay? Thanks
