if usd9 at the airport is too expensive, then ask a hotel staff to get a local sim for you. a blank card retails for around 50k and another 50k should buy you enough data.

go with Viettel.

Its a basic sim and then top-up 50K vnd value. after that, advise the staff to activate 1GB 4G data.

Whenever you need to top up, you can go to any Familymart, Circle K or convenient shop... the staff will help you at the Cashier

Since you are gonna use Grab quite extensively, Getting a local sim card in Vietnam is recommended. Cuz many grab drivers will call, either to:
- confirm that its a legit booking or
- to tell you their ETA or
- re-confirm your pick-up location

as we didnt screenshot on our phone, there isnt really internet connection at the immigration, hence we have to buy a $14 sim card from the booth to connect to internet and show them (after immigration, the card is only $6+) ...

This year, didnt have such issue. but we did printed out the flight itinenary, just to be safe ...

Most Vietnam international airport have free wifi eVen at kastam. And the speed is so much better than our mystical wireless@Sinkie

TSN airport is TSN-meganet free wifi iirc
hanoi noi bai is NIA-meganet free wifi
