For North Face backpacks the going rate is in the S$30s for a 30 liter bag, if I remember correctly. They can be quite firm on their pricing. At least this was my experience from about 18 months back.

The quality isn’t that great... but it’s a bag and it works.

anyone knows if grabcar in vietnam can take 5 year old without child seat? In Singapore, grabcar is forbidden to take child unless have child seat and only taxis are allows to take child without child seat.

Also, does grab in vietnam can book bigger cars for 4 adults and 1 5 yr old? Thanks

There's no tipping culture in Vietnam.

I always ask my vb if need to tip. Usually she say no need.

Normally I will just say keep the change, eg I just ate 72k, but have the rider 80k, so he keep 8k. There is no expectation to tip, so they are normally very surprised. But I see them ride around, carry food and sometimes from far away, so just tip la.

Yesterday I tip the goviet rider close to 30k. Because my area flood and I can see he really whole body wet. He take it easy, still smiling away. But I feel very guilty for placing the order actually.

Oo.. Cos I was thinking if 10k tipping would be seen as too insulting. In my mind I tot maybe 30k. Cos I booked an airbnb tour organized by uni students for an evening street tour (on scooter) for 6-7 dishes.

And also the full day mekong delta tour. Thinking what's a fair sum to give.

Means no need to try and buy loose pieces from them?

So far I think shopping spots should be russian market and saigon square, Ben Thanh (day and night) market should be pretty cut throat. Anywhere else I can consider? (Don't count takashimaya those kind of estb shopping centers)

Like I said, there is no tipping culture in Vietnam. So There is no standard amount in tips...

You give what you think that person deserves, base on your own perception of the service rendered

Hotel concierge help me with my heavy luggage up to my room, I will tip 20K.
If he take this extra effort to introduce the amenities and features within the room, deals, offers and how to use them etc, I will tip him total 50K.

tipping for tours work a little different from what the bros are talking about. they are tipping services like grab, which yes correctly speaking don't need to tip.

but for tours, some tours do indicate that you are required to tip some minimum amount. and if you book airbnb tour organized by students i will also encourage you to tip more generously. 10k/30k feels too insulting.

nothing much in d5. if you enjoy seeing temples/pagodas, you will have somewhere to go.

the markets have an dong and binh tay. an dong market not much i feel. binh tay market (actually in d6) on the other hand, just recently upgraded end of last year. it's very new and clean, but it's not really the market for you to buy clothes and all that. they do have some, but their shops sell almost everything lah, stationeries, toiletries, hardware, dried goods, etc.

i went once and liked it though, for some weird reason. just walk and look around, bought some flavoured cashew nuts (some spicy mix) and also those dried chicken floss is worth a try. if i'm not wrong it's called "Khô Gà Lá Chanh". u can get these at Ben Thanh market also actually..

ya i should have been more clear, i am referring to these tour kind of tipping, like tipping boat man / tour guide, less so for other misc cos i makan at road side kind...
