3 days later! Mixed feelings about Vietnam.

Love the food!
OC went mental every time a bike comes near!
Food and drinks are very affordable.
The Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong river visit was not what I expected.... not in a good way.
Amazing how everyone loves people watching on their mini stools.
Had French at La'Villa pretty sub standard. But for the price, I guess it's acceptable.

Best meal was one of the cheapest quite a distance from town. Crab based noodles.

Just a tip. From what i see that Taxi like those reputable company Vinasun and etc charge abit higher then grab/uber.

If you guys in vietnam best to use grab/uber down as it more cheaper then normal taxi

using grab/uber... the difficult part is the starting... you need to give correct position for the driver to pick you up :(

hey, thanks for the reply.

Yes, it will be my 1st time going. You went vietnam by following tour or F & E?? actually i dont have any area in mind. I am just gathering some info here and do some planning here before going there. Most likely, it will be like a free and easy back packing style of trip with my friends.

About duration? I dont mind going for 2 weeks. My budget is about $1000 for everything. is that possible? I dont expect 5 star hotel either. just a reasonable room will be fine.

Anyway, what is prawn and crab in vietnamese? I have allergy towards them.

Thanks man.

You can save in ur tix if u book with hotel on expedia. I took jetstar to hcmc.

Places you can visit is like the mekkong river. Or the Bitexco tower.

There is also the notre dame cathedral and the post office.

Food wise have to eat beef pho and thr bahn mi.

Any other qns feel free to ask me. :)

Usually from my experience i will always find a nearest landmark. For me ill find any name of the hotel that is nearby so that its easier for the driver to pick us up.

I will walk to the nearest shop and use its address as pick up point. But when i want pick up at the airport, it's a challenge. No rider wanna come in because there is entry charges and many of them wait outside the carpark entry area. It's hard to tell them where to find you since you cant speak the language. My last encounter resulted in 45 min wait and 2 cancelled bookings before finally got 1 to pick me up.

Anyone going Vietnam wants the SIM card. Let me know I have one used for 3 days. It's viettel I believe it's for a month 5gb, with talk time etc. Duno how to check how much is left but I guess quite a fair bit. Paid VND 290k.
