Actually sometimes these luxury hotels will have promos as well. It is possible to get rooms below $100 a night

Just need to time your travels to coincide with their promotions.

I remember I stayed in Sheraton hcmc once... It was around $70 per night ROOM ONLY. No breakfast. And I stayed there for two nights. If I wanna add breakfast, it was around 40USD per pax per day.
I find this a good deal cuz there are plenty of good street food and easily taste nicer than hotel food.

For le meridien... You can use SPG and Marriott rewards to redeem free nights or upgrades

Haha same same feeling. I really don't like cho ben thanh.
Wanna buy anything must haggle until the sun goes down.

Worse is the girls keep touching you, pull your arm and ask you: "Sir! T shirt!"
"Sir! Latest sports shoes..."
"Sir.... Sir... Sir!!!!"

But if you love the thrill of haggle and bargaining then Cho Ben Thanh is your heaven.

Take note: must be Liberty central Saigon...
There is another Hotel with the name Liberty (neXt to bui vien)
That one is very cui 3star hotel

I went over the weekend and came back on tuesday. On Sunday, passed by a street which was closed with police presence and barricades. didn't think much of it until later when i realised it was the protest. From what i heard from my viet friend, a year ago, the vietnam govt leased a beautiful island called Phuc Quoc to China for 99 years. But by the next day, everything back to normal.
I stayed at Giang Son 2 hotel, a small guest house at a back lane which is just 1 minute from the Bui Vien walking street. It was shielded off from the clubbing noise but still near to happening spots. Not too expensive. A room with window costs 400k. Add 20k for breakfast which has coffee, eggs and sausage, and a banh mi. Don't bother about the breakfast. Save your stomach for better food.

Was told best period for sapa is august but sapa usually requires 3d2n as it's pretty far from hanoi
