Vinaphone and Viettel are two biggest telco in vietnam. Both of them dominate around 75% in vn
Depends on what you want...
If you want data more than talk time, then go Vinaphone
If you wan something basic or balanced, then go for Viettel.
The Vinaphone starter pack is sold for 300,000 VND ($17 SGD) and comes with 8 GB data (in up to 4G/LTE), 80 dom. minutes, 80 SMS and 50 internatl. minutes
iirc, this starter pack will automatically become useless after 60 to 90days.
you can get a barebone Viettel Sim for around 5SGD?!, and then you top up accordingly and activate the add-ons accordingly
Personally i am using Viettel because I make more calls and I travel to Vn very frequently.
I will usually top-up 100K vnd and it can easily last me 3 to 6months.
For Viettel 4G data packs, I will usually choose MIMAX70: 3 GB @ 70K VND. no expiry date, use till finish
For Viettel 3G packs, I will usually choose either
- TOMD30: 1GB @ 30K VND. no expiry date, use till finish
- ECOD50: 3GB @ 50K VND. no expiry date, use till finish
For Viettel/VINAPHONE, if you wanna use 4G/LTE, make sure two things:
1) Your Phone has 4G/LTE
2) Buy the 4G sim
To have the 4G config, switch on your data and then:
- For VIETTEL: Text CAUHINH to 107
- For VINAPHONE: Text 4G ON to 888
