Was thinking going HCM for solo travel for maybe 4days 3 nites?

Not very those adventures person. So wat can I do there other than trying out the food, chilling at their road side cafe n chill at roof top bar?

Wat area should I stay then and any hotel to recommend?

And lastly which month will be gd?

Think most will advice D1 hotels near cho Ben thanh , depending on budget, 3 star to 4 star hotels might do the trick.

was kinda disappointed, since there isnt western choice for breakfast
few hotels that have stayed in, their breakfast only fried vege, fried meat (like our mixed econ rice), meatball noodle soup, baguette ...

cant really expect much, since some of their 3* hotels only have 20 to 50 rooms...
have stayed at other 3* hotels with 120 rooms, their breakfast choice is great !!!

not like western style with baked beans, hash brown, baked potato, ham, sausages, scrambled eggs etc .... Stayed in few 3* hotels in other countries such as taiwan, bkk, hongkong, malaysia, Singapore, they at least have some western breakfast selections ...

Even though Vietnam is starting to open up to Western culture, Western music Western lifestyle and the "American Dream" etc but The food culture in Vietnam is still very local and traditional

Otherwise Western fast food companies like McD, subway, BK would be everywhere in Vietnam

Milk tea, coffee, bubble tea n sting is more popular than coca cola and pepsi

I have no qualms about how they prepare the Vietnam hotels prepare their breakfast choices.

As long as it's not just "loti + gu you" can liao hahaha

You should check out the photos posted by tourists in trip advisors before you book your hotel in Vietnam.

Afaik... Once you are out of Hcmc and Hanoi... Western breakfast buffet are mainly with 4 * and 5 star hotels

Unless the 3 star hotels are mostly catered to serving AMDK hotel guests

Will be visiting HCM soon. Last visited there many years back.. will be heading there with my wife so... wanna find out some info.

1. What's the usual price of massage there now? I see previous pages that need to check if the tipping is included as well? last time i go, always give tip after massage one.
I am also looking for massage shop that provides 采耳 also, together with massage. going with wife dont think can go to those saloon type. lol.

2. any recommended place for seafood?

Will probably bring 5-600 sgd for 5d4n... should be enough I guess? 100 per day, for both. exclude hotel/flight. thinking to go vung tau for one day trip, the rest in hcm.

3. is haidilao in HCM long queue like sg? is it cheaper? what's the rough cost for 2 pax?

Usually...I will ask for recommendation from the Hotel reception or Concierge.

agree !!! Yes, most of the people there dont speak english or understand english ... even in the hospitality sector, some 3* hotels staff only understand and speak very basic english ...

Mac only open up their first store in hcm in 2016 if i rmb correctly ...
went there for the last one decade, there isnt macdonald in d1 d2 d3 at all ...
mostly kfc and lotteria ...

the prices in mac not cheap though, more expensive than in malaysia ...
mostly young people dine in there ...

Wanted to book this hotel initially but location like not that good and seems a little far from Ben Thanh market. So decided to stay somewhere nearer instead.

nearer to co op mart, 10 minutes walk or cab 2 min ...
since booked at a deal of about $78 per nite w breakfast for 2, so we went with it

Wanted to book this hotel initially but location like not that good and seems a little far from Ben Thanh market. So decided to stay somewhere nearer instead.

There's a few reasons why I will always recommend Eden Star Saigon hotel.
The main road is two ways but one of the lane do not allow big cars to enter, so it is actually very quiet throughout the day even at night.

There is a decent western restaurant and club next to it...walking distance to Bui Vien.

if this hotel is not available, then the next best local hotel on my list will be either:
- Liberty Central Saigon Riverside hotel
- Grand Silverland
- A&EM

It's 3 star hotel..... 4 star hotels and above in Vietnam will require Vietnamese people to be able to speak decent level of English as one of the job requirements

I have not come across a Vietnamese in 4 star and 5 star hotels who can't speak English well
