Hey all - I’m new here :) I’m going to HCM in a few weeks. Can anybody recommend a hotel plz?

I like to stay in Giang Son hotel near Bui Vien walking street. The hotel is clean enough, with a laundry shop a few doors away. Convenience stores are a min walk away. It is in a back lane and shield away from the noise. There are a few branches. I stayed in Giang Son 2. It's actually a guest house. Costs 400k for a standard room with Queen size bed. Get one with window. You might be lucky to see free show opposite.

I ok ah... I have been Earning lotus miles and membership points

Furthermore. There are certain dates whereby budget is way more expensive than vn air

4-star airline.... imo At least its much better than some budget airlines
pay $15 sgd but serve food which look like it's for animals

Totally agree. Full fare airline with full food + full luggage allowance are often better deal than budget airline. Even more so if you are flying domestic (HCM-HN etc).

you can put up a separate request when you are finalizing your booking that you want to have a safe in your room.

Anyone knows Hanoi well?

Hello everyone,

If you have been or know Hanoi quite well, what would you recommend to see for group of three adults?

All of us have been in Vietnam number of times, but not in Hanoi. We will be there for four days/nights and have hotel around Old Quarter area.

Interests:
  • street/local food (no fancy restaurants dining)
  • coffee - especially good vietnamese coffee
  • museums, especially small and little known one
  • architecture, history and how people live
  • nature/parks

No interest - shopping/malls/markets, being in crowded areas or organized tours.

And before someone says - no plans to go to Halong Bay, instead planning to go Cat Ba National Park for a day.

Other recommendations are welcome. BTW, what is acceptance of credit/paywave cards in local places/cafes?

P.S. If someone just returned from Vietnam and have leftover local SIM, would be happy to pick it up.

Thanks.

Domestic flight between HN and Hcmc via vn air is super not worth it

I took it a few times due to work.

1) Expensive
2) only serve snacks (nuts and waffle biscuits)
3) if you happen to take the A350 plane between HN n hcmc, the IFE system was not switched on
4) biz class meals also pathetic. Only snacks.
5) no alcohol. No beer. No champagne, even for biz class. Only non alcoholic drinks
6) the A350 plane like no aircon at all. Very hot and stuffy. I ended up sweating

According to a private sharing by a vnair crew
For the VNA HAN-SGN, you only get full meal during lunch and dinner time (11.30 - 1.30/ 5.30 - 7.30). All other timings serve snacks only
