guys.. wanna ask if this itinerary is ok? 8 days trip..

day 1: explore hanoi + hanoi train street + hanoi night market
day 2: halong bay
day 3: 8am depart for ninh binh
day 4: 4pm return back to hanoi + 7pm flight to da nang
day 5: explore ba na hills + french village
day 6: explore marble mountain
day 7: explore hoi an
day 8: flight back to sg

thanks in advance...

In my opinion, your back to back "touch n go" itinerary is very tiring! Seems like a tour group schedule.

If u going on your own, i would leave some time to soak in the atmosphere!

For Hanoi, only weekends there's a street night market & Street performance in old quarters around Hoan kiem lake! Great atmosphere!

Once a month, there's a huge "concert" stage at the fountain (between the famous highland coffee & Coffee club) where there's some local artist and carnival like! I missed this as it was the day i went to Halong bay!

Super rush, not sure why you like to stress yourself with such a rushed itinerary. Don’t even have much time to watch water puppet show. This seems like YouTuber itinerary Or packaged tour. Rain or shine, you have to move

if you go northern Vietnam, just go Hanoi, Halong Bay, ninh binh, sapa

if you go central Vietnam, go Danang, Hoi an, hue.

southern Vietnam, HCM, Mekong river, mune plus maybe Phu quoc

each area can spend 8 days or more

don’t use 8 days to travel northern and then central Vietnam. You mark you visited on Google map when in actual fact, you miss all the local culture, e,g food dishes in each area is different, crafts, villages etc

Agree with this with regards to concentrating on North Vietnam. To me, Halong Bay is worth an overnight stay provided you picked a decent boat. It will be fun to go with friends and family. If you don't have many days, I suggest skipping Ninh Binh.

Latest tourism spot near Halong Bay is Onsen Inn. i think worth 1 night to try out.

I stayed in boat in Halong Bay before. Quite worth it if the budget allows, the dinner buffet and atmosphere was fantastic as we celebrated Halloween onboard and the crew cut out the pumpkins and decorated the boat

Is this applicable to you? Are you not coming back here? You can seek coverage for every day you are out of this country, except the day you return. Hahaha. Save 1 day of costs.

When u are in Hanoi, just ask around some travel companies, esp around Old quarters where you may get some good deals! Klook also consolidate and outsource these tours!

The Surpriseing Cave was good to go and see, but June & July is peak season and entry into the caves is one big cluster fxxk! The stairs up and the mouth of the cave is single file or at most 2. The cave is suppost to be cool even in hot weather but it's so pack that its hot and humid inside till the floor is slippery! Covid "central"! 60% of people dont wear mask here!

Halong bay is a must go lah! Once is enough! If u got cho bu then stay 1 night at Halong bay (Cruise or hotel) loh! Romantic boom boom night with your lady!

There's many new Condo & Villas development! Very attractive and tempting to live in 1 for retirement! :s13:

Yah..i read the Trip advisor...booked Klook to visit Surprising Cave and hike to Titop island. :s12:
i think i bring extra tee and shorts. :s13:

Did you go for kayaking? :s13:

Should I get data sim card from changi Airport (10gb for s$14.50) or at da nang airport itself?

Also from da nang airport to hotel in hoi an, I suppose can just book a grab? I know there's shuttle service which is cheaper but it doesn't seem to be on hourly departure so I need to wait at least 1 hour plus for the next service upon my arrival.

I just got back from Hanoi/HCM for a work trip.
  1. The PC App (TraceTogether equivalent) seems like not strongly enforced anymore lol.
  2. Booking of ground transportation via Grab (Mainly), TADA (price seems cheaper) and Gojek. All drivers met are honest and no issues at all. Switch around each app in case you have issues getting transportation during peak hours.
  3. Domestic Airports were very hectic even for a weekday, do go in early if you have baggage drop when travelling domestically.
  4. Change money at VN for better rates.
