hcm is good for introduction to the country. But can combine it with day trips to cu chi tunnel, mekong delta, etc. If got time, can also take internal flight to hanoi and from there go halong bay, sapa, etc. next trip to vietnam, I want to go hue. heard it is v nice.
but for shopping, I find really nothing much. Its a v nice country though. laid-back, relatively affordable and yummy food.
your rite, but my advice not go to cu chi tunnel. not worth.... waste money and time.
most memorable is sapa. u never forget it when u come to sapa.

Cuchi Tunnel is not a waste of money nor time. Maybe for some Asians, they might not like it, but for the europeans, its a site they do not want to miss..its all part of Vietnam history and culture.
my friend went to there and they charge twice for foreigner... this is unfare. btw.. u try and give ur optinion
i am a singaporean, we do not need visa to enter vietnam right? Do we need to fill up the white card to enter? If yes, where can we get this white card, will the plane stewardess be issuing this out to passengers or we have to get it at the airport
No need visa but must fill in the white card. U will be issued either b4 u board the plane or in the plane.

i think right, only advice i hope can be of use to you is that.
when take taxi right, try to write the place you want to go on a paper then pass to the driver.
This is what I did from the HCM airport to the backpacker's street in April this year. Because, the pronounciation might be different later end up in the wrong street haha.

from airport there is public bus, cost only 20 to 30cent singapore dolar. to phamngu lao street.
central of city. if u want can take it. 45 hour travel. take cap 25mins.

Advice as in?? If u take taxi, 2 of the trustworthy taxi companies are Malinh n Vinasun. The rest, I have to say, good luck. Even the 1 operated by Comfort is crap. I took once due to hurry, from airport to D1 will not exceed 100k dong but this bugger, his meter jumped twice as fast. My taxi fare for that trip, about 150k n he still smiled n asked for tips.

Can change SGD at the Saigon airport right? I heard about those heartless cab drivers in the thread, will be extra careful. Anyone explore the nightlife in HCM, i know they close early but is it happening? How are the drinks cost like? Anyone have any ideas? For the day, where can i do my shopping other than those markets you guys mention , what about shopping centres? Got those kind like Far east plaza? I don't want those high end shops... hehe
u can exchange there if rate is good.
better take public bus, cost only 30cent. u go to district 1 , it is central of the city. many bar and club for u to explore.
