Rates are not much difference since you are probably changing for few hundred.. not gonna be a huge component. But in Vietnam, the best rates are often in jewellery shops.

Jewellery shops, money changer than banks.

BE CAREFUL!!!

Dear all,

Today i had just arrived at Ho chi minh city for holiday.

While i was strolling at night near ben thanern market a bike approached me and ask if i wanted massage at USG20.

i had never came to ho chi minh before and not sure about the rate so she asked me to seat on her bike to follow her and i silly did it.

when i arrive the location which i am not sure where it is.... they asked me to bath and after i came out she did a very simple
massage for me and i find it very strange by then.

Her partner then came in and tell me that she got to leave because her boyfriend is calling her so the partner taking over then i am pissed off
and i insisted leaving... then they send me back to my hotel.

after reaching the hotel,i realise during my bath, they had took my money from my pocket.

i lost $250 SGD, 170USD and 700000 dong plus my rauel watch.

i felt so stupid and upset now. can you advice anything i can do?

take it as a lesson learnt... unless u can hunt down the scammers yourself. Prostitution is also illegal, dont get yourself into trouble reporting this.

i remembered reading this somewhere,
guess it is good to actually do some in-depth research

A good question

Hi where can I buy this prepaid card?

You can buy the prepaid sim of Vinatel everywhere, which is at the dealer locations. However, this is the direct method. There is a pretty good way; you can ask a travel agent who provides certain services to help you buy. I once asked a dealer, such as the RDT travel company, i just booked the tickets (vietnamairlinestickets.com). However, I asked them to support other related services. Fortunately, they agreed with me.

Hanoi to Hoi An

Hello all, will be going to Hanoi and onwards to Hoi An in Sept. Just wondering whether i should book the train tickets now? cause its going to be an overnight train to Danang and i sure as hell don't want to be stuck sitting down the whole journey.

And where do i book Halong Bay tour in Hanoi? any recommended company?

Went to HCMC - Mui Ne - HCMC from 22/7 to 26/7. Anyone need any basic info, pls PM me. Will try to help as much as within my means :)

For those thinking of going HCMC for short trip, imho, I would suggest you head to BKK or Chiang Mai instead :o

if u wanna book train ticket. i strongly suggest taking up the first class sleeper, cos the second class sleeper is cui. but i recommend u buy at train station on your first day (cheaper) and go halong bay den go danang.

alternatively there will be bus from hanoi-hue-hoi an.

for halong bay package generally u can buy from all tour agencies in old quarter. tour agencies should be cheaper than booking through your hostel/hotel. do compare a few as price variance is quite high..
