Hi,

Signed up viewqwest 1Gbps on the phone few days ago, and Netlink will come by soon.

After browsing so much happenning stuffs, I began to worry on the internet service I will be getting. In particular, 1) uptime 2) unstable ping.

My family does not need the Digital voice, so no issue with that.
Don't need one voice? I was told need so I lan lan lose number

Hi everyone,

Latest update regarding the fibre cable cut:

Update: 22:43

NLT estimates that restoration of the cables will be completed by 04:00AM on 12/4/2017.

We'll let you know if the ETA gets pushed back - otherwise should be the last update :)

Ridiculous amount of downtime

I have experienced disconnection on my internet line over the last few days. Despite promises of expediting the case I still have not received a single useful piece of communication from your company over messenger or twitter or email or phone call other than messenger asking for my IC number. I still have issues with the IP address not being issued to my router. MAC address not being read by your ONT. Your CSO also notified me it is an issue with your backend configuration. So when can i get a resolution to this frustrating situation? If not I wish to terminate my contract with your company with no penalties as I have not have had a reliable internet with your company for several days now. The situation is honestly getting ridiculous.

Hi all. I signed up with viewquest 2gbps and am.in a bit of dilemma as to which router to choose.

I can choose either the ROG AC5300 VS the 828M2. The 828M2 will be cheaper..

The router will have to be in AP mode though....any thoughts?

Unless you plan to upgrade to the Multi-Network Plan which is now including the 2Gbps-to-1-PC Plan, there is no need to get the BRT-AC828, which is primarily used to bond 2 1Gbps connection to give you 2 Gbps.

Hi,
I would like to early review the $999 2GB plan which I signed up last mth also.
Now activated with second port of fibre point.
I dunno if its me or what, my set up was like this..I installed the set up myself as I wasn't available at home to entertain the installation by VQ.
Method 1:
In order to make use of 2GB, I had to set up my router to AP mode which sucks.
Modem received: Linkstar
Linkstar- LAN 1----> TPlink AC3200 triband router (AP mode)
LAN 2----> PS4
Internet thru router(AP mode) no problem at all, smooth.. getting speeds of 340mbps via wifi 5.0GHz around 90mbps from 2.4Ghz..
The problem is from port 2.
Direct connection to PS4, it can download games at decent speeds but when online gaming it failed.
I'm play fifa 17 online. starting easily connected online but when game starts 5mins thru the game it would DC. I tested 5 times, 5times all it DC at nearly the same time..
I called up technical support, staff advised that for gaming I had to use method 2, The linkstar which worked as the main router do not have the sufficient functions to support online gaming. UPNP had issues.
Method 2:
So hence, better to set the linkstar modem as bridge mode so that my tri band router would be in router mode and use its capability to stable online gaming on ps4. But.... the trade off is that if you use the linkstar as bridge mode, only Lan 1 is available for connection to your router, lan 2-4 will not be in use. And also you will only be using 1GB of you 2GB you subscribe. Sucks..
But becoz of the PS4 which was my main source of gaming, I had no choice but to try it method 2. Lucky it worked!!
Although I could only use 1GB, but it looks stable, most importantly, I had control of my router. Instead of using such a powerful router as an access point only which really suck.
The free VQ TV to me sucks.. A lot of apps took ages to load.. I still do not know the functions and capability of freedom vpn.
I am also using Starhub 1gb fibre on the 1st port of my fibre point, Speed are fast but PS4 connection it sucked. I can play online, but on the downloading games or update part, it really sucks to the core.. I could download a game which is like 46GB in 100plus hours, but on the new VQ, it took the most 2 half hours..
Verdict, Every ISP have their problem, need to see which one is most suitable for you. They all suck with each having their own problem.
I hope VQ network stay stable for the next 2 years.

I agree with you...perhaps I should look into acquiring those new wifi mesh devices to get wifi in my house.

I posted in EDMW's reno group thread about this yesterday but thought I should try to get some confirmation from Viewqwest themselves or from other subscribers in case I was misinformed ...

I first went to the SLS counter on Fri evening to get more information on digital voice - because honestly the Viewqwest website does not offer much information on it at all - and to possibly add it on to my Internet service ... I did not include it at sign-up because I was told by Viewqwest staff at the show I'd signed up at that there was no fax support so if I want it I need to go sign up an analogue telephone line with SingTel ... only SingTel does not wire up current-gen BTOs for analogue service in the 1st place so there is no support for analogue telephone line and I must use digital voice.

SLS counter offered no information whatsoever other than that there used to be some info on the website, and that they can't arrange anything at their end, tell me to call Customer Service and they will arrange at their end.

Called Customer Service the next day and was told this is not correct and they don't arrange this via phone, tell me must email. Better educate your counter staff on this.

Anyways, according to Customer Service, there are no VAS with Viewqwest's digital voice service except Caller ID, and if want IDD capability must activate with additional charge otherwise by default deactivated. And ... no other VAS, no Call Waiting, no Call Forwarding, no Conference / 3-way Call, no nothing. Is that correct? Even something as basic as Call Waiting also don't have? Can anyone confirm?

Why VQ cannot support Fax?

I am using FAX on starhub digital voice and it is free.

You have 2 fiber broadband connections.....

Why not just use VQ for your PS4 on Port 1 and use your Starhub for your WIFI

Or, have you tested VQ Port 1 for PS4 and Port 2 for WIFI???

nope I never tried that yet. Switching port 1 to ps4 and port 2 to access point.
As its working quite well on ps4 now.

That time I nv check properly, and I just took the one with better value..
1gb for $888
2gb for $999
so I took the 2gb plan without knowing that my router would be a useless access point.
But now bridge it to 1gb only..
Hai... lucky got give 1 VQ tv which I sold it off for $100 as I feel my UBTV box is better..
So not so bad.. just hope the connection to my ps4 stay healthy.

HUH so now because the linkstar is unable to support gaming.

Your linkstar from router mode change to bridge mode.

Paying 2x 1gbps become 1x1gbps plan now?

Did they refund u the diff?

Technically his current set-up is the 1Gbps plan..... but he paid the upfront SGD999 2Gbps Single Network Plan...

Anyway, it is not too difficult to ask VQ to change between bridge and router mode but if ask to downgrade then i think is not easy and will involve downgrade penalty or whatever fine prints that is listed in the contract....

Wait long long sia refund....
I mean it might not happen to u, firstly, you need to test if your gaming works for you.
I wanted to use 2 gbs wan, even set my router to be access point liao to use port 2-4.
But your linkstar becomes ur main router, which also controls your internet flow..
When you are at access point mode, the 4 ports on the link star shares 2gb.. but 1 port can only support 1gb. your router becomes just a wifi sharing device..when I use this configuration, my ps4 online gaming DC, it started well, no lags, den just sudden cut off.
Even the tech guy told me he had quite a lot cases on the linkstar having problems with ps4 gaming. so he was quite experience in guiding me thru the change to router mode.
ya so now I'm using only 1GB with good speed on my ps4. the only sucky part is the other 1gb cannot use lo..
I also found out the the freedom DNS VPN hor, if they activate u to US Netflix, you cannot see SG Netflix sia.. This is what the tech guy told me..
Hope my info helps future subscribers..

On netflix.. By default, it would be accessing the sg one. Unless requested which I did, custom routing can be done by vq to configure it to access to the usa one.
