Hi,
I would like to early review the $999 2GB plan which I signed up last mth also.
Now activated with second port of fibre point.
I dunno if its me or what, my set up was like this..I installed the set up myself as I wasn't available at home to entertain the installation by VQ.
Method 1:
In order to make use of 2GB, I had to set up my router to AP mode which sucks.
Modem received: Linkstar
Linkstar- LAN 1----> TPlink AC3200 triband router (AP mode)
LAN 2----> PS4
Internet thru router(AP mode) no problem at all, smooth.. getting speeds of 340mbps via wifi 5.0GHz around 90mbps from 2.4Ghz..
The problem is from port 2.
Direct connection to PS4, it can download games at decent speeds but when online gaming it failed.
I'm play fifa 17 online. starting easily connected online but when game starts 5mins thru the game it would DC. I tested 5 times, 5times all it DC at nearly the same time..
I called up technical support, staff advised that for gaming I had to use method 2, The linkstar which worked as the main router do not have the sufficient functions to support online gaming. UPNP had issues.
Method 2:
So hence, better to set the linkstar modem as bridge mode so that my tri band router would be in router mode and use its capability to stable online gaming on ps4. But.... the trade off is that if you use the linkstar as bridge mode, only Lan 1 is available for connection to your router, lan 2-4 will not be in use. And also you will only be using 1GB of you 2GB you subscribe. Sucks..
But becoz of the PS4 which was my main source of gaming, I had no choice but to try it method 2. Lucky it worked!!
Although I could only use 1GB, but it looks stable, most importantly, I had control of my router. Instead of using such a powerful router as an access point only which really suck.
The free VQ TV to me sucks.. A lot of apps took ages to load.. I still do not know the functions and capability of freedom vpn.
I am also using Starhub 1gb fibre on the 1st port of my fibre point, Speed are fast but PS4 connection it sucked. I can play online, but on the downloading games or update part, it really sucks to the core.. I could download a game which is like 46GB in 100plus hours, but on the new VQ, it took the most 2 half hours..
Verdict, Every ISP have their problem, need to see which one is most suitable for you. They all suck with each having their own problem.
I hope VQ network stay stable for the next 2 years.
