The chair will rotate on the plank and every 2000 rounds equate to 1 month of usage.

so how long he seat on it to do the test?

Reason is simple, if the roller after 10yr leave a mark or wear layer wear off, i can only blame myself for choosing the wrong one which is why as a consumer, it is up to me to find the pros and cons, as the saying goes penny wise pound foolish

there will still people who are doubtful. cause, there a movie quote which say: there only 2 person i trust is, 1 of them is me and the other not you. which is why input, data is important

as a functional person, reno stressful is nothing comparing spending hard earn cash and spending money is not a fun one, need time to plan and finds it cons and pros.

A functional person always goes for whichever last the longest aka most durable. look does not matter at all to a practical person, money do

bro. you are very detail. I'm sure you can find a suitable flooring for your home. Cheers

what if the tiles below the Vinyl flooring pops ?

i will be doing Vinyl overlay my Sales Of Balance flat. Tiles already installed.

usually the vinyl guy will come back and remove the vinyl, get a tiler to hack the popped tiles and smoothen it. Once dry can put back the vinyl. Do remember to get the spare tiles from the vinyl vendor as we dont know if they are still in business when such things happen and if you habe the spare vinyl, you can engage people to do the repair for you.

The thing about tiles vs vinyl flooring, the latter is easier to replace a single/few spoilt piece ? When a normal tile is chipped, need hacking to replace. (Assuming in both scenarios got keep spare tile).

To overlay vinyl over existing flooring which is already flat (eg homogeneous tiles), just layer the vinyl on top or does the flooring need to be covered with something else first? I want the flexibility to "go back" to the existing tiles already lying there if one day the vinyl spoil and no budget to replace back lol

just overlay on existing tiles. You can remove the vinyl and use back the tiles if you decided to.

there a a few ways of doing it. If yours is tiles skirting
1. hack the tiles skirting, patch the wall and use the standard PVC skirting
2. Overlay on the existing tiles skirting using the standard PVC skirting
3. Overlay on the existing tiles skirting using customized vinyl stripe.

Option 1, most expensive but cleanest and nicest
Option 2, old school way. Cheap but not so nice
Option 3, most economical way but yet not compromise on aesthetic.

Or just leave it? My neighbour overlay vinyl keeping her tiles skirting. Looks ok too

can just leave it as well. Depending on what color skirting. Some skirting is same color as the floor tiles like blue, green and pink. I will suggest you do something to it. But some skirting is white or beige, you can choose to leave it.

try reading the last 2 page. if you want longevity, vinyl is not time tested. any company can claim anything, for tiles no need to say, they are everywhere

done close to 100s over unit with parquet in the bedrooms. Prerequisite is there is no leakage from toilet wall/floor that leak to the master bedroom as it will damage and soften the parquet resulting vinyl to sink down. Another is termite infestation. Owner needs to treat the wood before overlaying vinyl. We just had a landed where their parquet was varnished 2-3 times before. Cant varnish again. Hence vinyl is their next alternative.

Bottomline.. If you have the budget. Hack off everything and redo is the most ideal. But not everybody has the budget to do that. If we are talking about 2 room flat, the price difference is not that huge compared to a 5rm, EA or EM.

Weighing the option against budget is important.

cant tell by visiting shops. Some are using 2/3/4mm vinyl with 0.2-0.3mm wear layer. Such vinyl will either expand (pop tiles) or contract (open tiles) under retail environment. And usually retails are rental unit. Most tenant will get the cheapest option to do up their place. And the traffic there are higher compared to home.

The higher traffic accelerates the usage compared to home usage so can see how it wear and tear? As an approximate, not a science experiment. For example N months of retail usage is like M years home use.

we wont know what vinyl the shops are using. Could be 0.2mm, 0.3mm or 0.5mm wear layer . And layman wont know what thickness (2mm, 3mm, 4mm,5mm,6mm) and system (click, glue, looselay) they are using. Some may even mistaken laminate flooring as vinyl. And lately there is another type of inyl look alike flooring SPC in the market. So a layman will enter a shop and see the vinyl in bad shape and happen to ask the shop owner how long have u been using the vinyl. The owner said one year. Are we able to conclude that all vinyl is lousy?

Higher traffic also very subjective. We go to Hermes and Japan Home. Both are retail. But obviously the traffic in Japan home is higher. In fact there the too many variable to get a conclusive and accurate conclusion.

Not anyhow whack any retail shop and anyhow think

Ask specifically what retail shop your company has decked before . Those publicly accessible places are part of the specific vinyl flooring company's portfolio
