Was watching a movie then suddenly the screen slowly fading away till black screen and can still see backlight.

Sound can still be heard. Restart still the same. The MI logo shows up then slowly fades to black screen. Gone case? Xiaomi MI TV
Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Anyway two years is a good run, just buy another XiaoMi. One ~$2500 TV can last 5 years plus, but can get 5 XiaoMi TV's (change every 2 year) which is cheaper.

2 yrs is really a short life span :s22:
so far mine's lasted 3

& it's a Panasonic
not that it's spoiled but the screen starts to have lines at the bottom plus the occasional flicker :/

Must have been a crash cause by acid.

kidding sounds abit like a power unit KO since it faded to black. Normally LCDs die by having funny pixels

yalor. I also think liddat. No point buying expensive jippun one like Sony, cos electronics stuff nowadays not so reliable. Even with warranty, also troublesome.

Fade to black means something on your power management died. Technically you can swap out the board and it should be good as new.

But since it is a cheap arse xiaomi, nust buy new one sua.

Yep fade to black. Restart a few times and now it doesn't show the boot up animation. Only the sound and can see the back light.

If want to bua stunt, can try hunting down the board and replace it. But honestly soeaking, you are better off just getting a whole new tv.

In old days, LCD TV use CCFL to light up the panel, the panel itself only show image, but will not give out bright lights, the CCFL (aka mini florescence tube) make the image clear and bright.

LED TV replace the CCFL tubes with LED lights.
CCFL like your normal ceiling florescence light, will breakdown while LED is more lasting.

Stare at your black screen.. you should be able to still see the images, only they are not brighten.
In your case, the LED driver had broke down.
