Thinking of upgrading my existing TV to a bigger size (47 to 55).

However, as mine is a feature wall, able to reuse the existing wall mount?

Mine is a flat wall mount btw.

You will need a drill with hammer action best with carbite tips. Where to buy? A good place is motherland.

You will also need to buy the correct drill bits. Different surface (eg wood, steel, concrete, etc) uses different drill bits. If you use a steel drill bit for concrete, it will not be effective.

If yours is a reinforced wall, normal hammer drill also near impossible. Need SDS pneumatic drill, the ones your contractor uses. U be amazed at the hammering power of such drills. I drill holes into ceilings and bomb shelters like nothing.

i have a dilemma...getting a 65" samsung and was wondering about the pros and cons of wall mounting it.

samsung has the mini wall mount and ultra slim wall mount options. which would you guys recommend?

will it be very difficult to try to use the inputs at the back of the TV in future after wall mounting? i probably have to hook up a PS or TV setup box or media box or other devices on a regular basis...

read that its almost impossible to remove the TV without damaging it after mounting using the mini wall mount.

thanks

What model is this, I didn't know they have a 65" now?
Are you sure you will get the mini mount?
Most of the time you get an alternate brand mount. I suggest one which gives you access and flexibility.
Best to confirm details and model of the mount that is actually provided.

hi

its last year's model, the ES8000 65". they have the 75" ES9000 too which looks superb but the price is :eek:

yeah, they gave a free normal wall mount but was originally thinking of getting the $99 mini mount because my wall has a stupid pvc pipe (fibre optic cable) running down the middle which will interfere with the standard wall mount. actually, if possible, i would prefer the free wall mount as although its uglier looking from the side, it seems to have more room to allow one to connect other devices to the TV.

Considering the $199 samsung ultra slim wall mount instead as it allows you to hang the TV on a metal cable like a framed painting. the only downside is i forsee it will be difficult to try to connect other devices to the back of the TV after mounting due to the very small gap (think 1-2 cm max) between the TV and the wall.

do you know of any cheap wall mounts (with has more room between the TV and wall) which is curved in the middle to avoid the stupid pvc pipe?

There is NO 65" model.

I use the ordinary mount with my 64" model 8000 series plasma.
No issues and I can swivel it upwards to get behind it.
Flexibility is more important than style.

YMMV.

omg, i better standby a measuring tape when they deliver the TV...but seriously this is the 65" model :

ua65es8000.jpg

anyway regardless of the size, my main issue is the pvc piping (for the fibre optic cable) running vertically on the wall where i plan to mount the TV, i am looking at options NOT because of style but the salesman said the free normal wall mount will damage my fibre optic cable. can you please check if your mount is totally flush against the wall? if there is a vertical pvc pipe (abt 1cm thick, 2 cm wide) running from top to bottom in the middle of the mount, will it be damaged? i would hate to have intermittent internet connection and its also a pain to get someone to reroute the cable.

thanks for sharing.

hi pete,

thanks, the intent is not to prove whether there is 65" or not but rather can the free wall mount be mounted on the wall without damaging the fibre optic cable in the vertical pvc pipe...can you please check your setup bearing in mind the pvc is the typical one used to lay fibre optic cable to our living room?

if not, i will probably have to mount it beside the pvc pipe which will be off centre...:(

anyway did you use the free samsung wall mount? i will probably settle for that too since as you mentioned, its still easy to access the back of the TV after mounting. no point having a nice picture frame display if its a pain to access the inputs/outputs at the back...

Wait, isn't that a screw threaded bolt? try unscrew with plier out first?

Cant unsrew.. Tried using plier but it could not move at all.

Need to grind away the extended screw.. then knock in little bit. SIanz.

I think this is the only way.
