Hey Spindoc, very nice eldars! The orange and yellow complement each other very nicely.

Local game shops are important as they help to promote the hobby and create a gaming community. So every now and then, i buy something from PI. But their prices are so much higher, even with the ever weakening pound.

Personally i dun use primer. I dun know if its good to use primer. Anyone can enlighten if primer is a must?

I just use Chaos Black as the basecoat. Some ppl like white as the base coat. I've seen great minis from both colors so i guess its the painter preference.

Space Marines is GW and GW is Space Marines. LOL.. I really dun think GW can survive without the SMs. How cool it will be if they do a 30K version of SMs? With the Emperor and the Primarchs...

I guess almost everyone likes a Space Marine Chapter of any form, be it loyalists or traitors, even though they might not admit it. My fav is the Blood Angels, still waiting for their confirmation of new minis, most likely next year, after the space puppies.

Get from Maelstrom can already ah. Takes around 5 days to reach me usually. In addition, it is cheaper to buy from them than getting the stuff locally.

I read somewhere that a side effect of not priming your miniatures first before painting is that after you are done with your miniature, you will find that the paint comes off very easily. No idea how true that is since I prime all my miniatures before painting.

Actually as seow_lang has put it...its the coat between the metal and the rest of the paint. I use GW Black basecoat spray and it is quite good acting as a primer.

I have tried painting a layer of chaos black before but the problem is the paint doesnt stick to the metal well, which resulted in paint chips esp when gaming/transporting.

Applying coats of varnish might not help much.

Saying all that, primering is more for metal miniatures. For plastics, i don't find much chips.

In fact, i have painted over plastic without primering or any base coat!!!

Well i used Chaos black spray, which acts as a good primer. But painting on just Chaos black paint has caused a number of my minis to chip. Esp the metal ones. Applying thicker coats of protective varnish has helped a bit.

In fact, i don't usually use primer for plastics.

As an example:

I painted this on sprue (as you can see the rest of the sprue is still plastic grey without any primer)

The final product...still looking good.

WAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Very impressive showcase. Thousands and thousands worth of minis (points and money)!

I see most are warhammer armies. Is eldar and nids your only 40k armies so far?

The right shelf is Fantasy (which consists of 4 shelves)

The left shelf is my 40K/Hordes/Warmachine stuff. I have also a blood Ravens army and a Tau army (which is in the bags)..I have 2 bags lying around. Some of my stuff (Necron army) is at another place..

I have been collecting for past 15 yrs so that explains the lot (and the money too)

I like to paint more than play though...

Currently I plan to have a tyranid army for gaming purposes ( Nid-zilla army), and Eldar is more like my "hobby". Whenever i get bored of painting other stuff, i go back to paint some Eldar aspect warriors!!!!

I am most consistent with my Eldar and also one of my best painting standards...

Well they do look nice but very very expensive. Esp if u get the forgeworld stuff like the Calvary. Personally if i were to do a guard army, it would have to be Armoured Company or Elysian Drop troops. Painting 40K stuff and weathering WWII tanks are totally 2 different ballgame. Unfortunately my skill in that area needs more practice heehee



Just realised i havent shown my Gaunts and Genestealers...nothing special just the usual bony exoskeleton and carapace!!

And here is a Work In Progress OOP Dreadnought for a friend ( He is using it as Pre-Heresy Luna Wolves = Post Heresy Black Legion)

The state that it arrived in

Slapped on some paint, added purity seals, some free hand drawings, paint chips. Almost done.

And yes...this is an out-of-production Dreadnought!!!!! I thought it was a mechwarrior mech at first hahaha

Yeah.. i very much prefer the recent dreadnoughts version. The OOP version looks dorky.

DKK is sure an expensive amry. I like the cavalry unit but it costs around S$130.

Did you know there used to be a "Red Period" in GW where in the 1980's almost every 'eavy metal painter used red in their models!

Yup those are Feeder Tendrils, you will need them esp if u play 2 units of stealers. Too bad only 2 of such heads in a 8-stealer box....Stupid GW marketing strategy
