Miniature wargaming in asia will always be looked upon as an enthusiast hobby and not a main stream one like in the States and Europe. Its just the culture I guess. I tell my friends that I collect and play these miniatures and they tell me, "wah, so old liao still play with toys ah...".

Cost is another big factor as well, miniature gaming is not a cheap hobby to go into and its fairly time consuming what with the assemblying and painting of the miniatures.

There is one thing that digital entertainment can never provide me with when compared to miniature games though and thats the social interaction with a fellow player. Its very different talking to your opponent in the flesh than just typing over the internet. Ok, maybe some are not so nice to interact with but hey, you take the good with the bad.

You guys do know that Paradigm has got good community of 40K players right?

Hope you can post some pictures.

Do you have pictures of your grey knights?
Want to sell if you're no longer playing?
I think you can still get some 40K games at Comics Mart and PI. Some people are still playing although other games like WarMachine are also getting popular due to the lesser investment amount. You can just get playing with a few models that come with their own stat cards and you don't have to plonk out like $100 for the rule book.
I think over time Games Workshop has somewhere along the way ceased to become a workshop and became too much like a corporation to satisfy their investors. But their expansion has only led to more losses like in their failed Lord Of The Rings range. Their share prices are now so low and it's interesting to see how far GW will continue their exploits into the digital domain and what effect it will have on their share prices. Who knows? A 40K movie might revive interest in the tabletop game.

Apparently, Apocalypse did offer a slight reprieve as it was quite popular but games like Warmachine and Hordes are indeed getting more popular now.

Want to take on some Dark Eldar?

Maybe I can meet you for a game?
You make your Grey Knights sound like my S&P500 index investment.

Speaking of Stat Cards

Why can't GW come up with some stat cards with their models?
If anything, it can at least give the hobbyists something to refer to while painting.
Like this.

Unfortunatly, it seems that Games Workshop stopped producing anything after Apocalypse. No news on their web sites lately. All is quiet.

well thats for when they do make an appearance... most of the time teleport never hit target one... but the little times they do... its quite fun...

offer is tempting but i dun play liaos... some how never got into the whole thing at PI... to me PI was usually my WHF hang out place... WH40K was always at PS...

hmm let me go take a picture of my poorly painted models...

Seow has good pictures

How did you take those pics? You must be a pro.
Anyway I picked up SoulStorm yesterday. Here's the pimp daddy Assman on his Dais of Destruction with his ho's. I should put some fur trim on the guy or maybe replace him with a miniature model of Huggy Bear.

Anyone playing soulstorm? I tried the demo and find it quite outdated. I prefer Company of heroes game play than DOW now. Hopefully Relic will do DOW2 soon.

Also, nice minis for those who posted!

Is the R2D2 lego?

Yes. Starter Kits are very good for beginners to try out before diving in to the thick of it.

I tried Soulstorm but the graphics isn't quite as sophisticated as Company of Heroes. Company of Heroes needs a card two years in the future to play with all the effects. I found even my 8800 GT wasn't enough. Still a fun game though and it was nice to compare the Dais of Destruction with the actual model.

Some Van Helsing the movie inspired harpies. Not quite 40K but they serve in the Dark Elves army in WFB.

War Hydra from Dark Elves Army

Not the official model to use. Thought I'd use the Reaper model instead as the GW hydra model had heads that looked like flacid parts of the male anatomy that needed lots of pinning. Not that I didn't put pins in this one.

Judge Dredd

Hope to use this guy in a 40K battle one day. Either as part of an Inquisitor retinue or The Inquisitor himself. After all he is The Lawww...

It is possible to use that Judge Dredd miniature as an Iinquisitor provided your opponent allows you to use it as a proxy.

Maybe use him as a Vindicare or Eversor Temple Assassin? ;)
