No wonder I still see people still using the strap to run bcos I thought it would really be very uncomfortable to run with it ...
yes i agreed its harder to max out chest and lungs during runs. some people think its more accurate or dont wanna spend more money. for me i tested quite a while on both before embracing OHR, the numbers are so close(within 1-3bpm range) we wouldnt know which is more accurate.

I think i did because after every run i completed, the run is registered in the runkeeper app on my iPhone duplicating what’s on strava and Garmin ...

I suspect the runkeeper app on the iPhone took the info from the Apple’s Heart app and display it on the runkeeper app.

But funny thing is the runkeeper app on the AW itself, when i start on the AW, the rotating icon keeps rotating leh ...

Any ideas ?

Thanks
maybe in RK app(on iphone) you can try go to
- left bottom "Me",
- right top, gear logo(settings)
- apps services and devices. tap on applewatch, turn on everything there and done.
i would kill app on phone and kill app on watch too to make sure they are updated. Try again from there?

I havent been using my RK, but just tested even indoor its working for me. i can start tracking

Ya I know Garmin is a better watch for running but my wife says i should be contactable during run in case of any emergency and in case I need help midway through my longer runs. So I may have to only use AW for running from now. See how it goes ... but I definitely prefer Garmin for running as the Garmin connect is solid. AW got to use fitness app, health app and Watch app very confusing haha

suggest you wear garmin and carry the phone like a very tight waste pouch (something that clings around your waist)

Issue can happen after update. Most restore will definitely fix the issue. Your set is definitely not lemon.

Why don't wear both as a suggestion? That's what I've been doing. Also good as there is a back up and comparative dataset.

A cheaper FR245 would suffice if you don't need all the other bells and whistles.

I started out using a chest strap with my FR945 until the strap ran out of batt. To save some money i started using the FR945 OHR + RD Pod which worked for me initially but after 3 months, it started giving me periodic HR spikes in the middle of my long runs and it really irritated me as I kept getting audio feedback that my HR was high. And this spike could last for 2-3mins before normalising again, and then it will happen again suddenly. So i resigned myself to using the chest strap again and has never happened since. So I have an under-utilised RD Pod now.

However, this has never happened with my AW4 OHR. And its readings are normally 1bpm lower from my Garmin chest strap. I actually am very impressed with Apple's OHR.

Of course this is just based on my experience so far.

hmm maybe the strap got too dry or too wet and started slipping off the skin surface for the pulse detection? when i used to use chest strap i usually tighten it quite a bit, so much so i feel i wasted 5% more strength to breath, just to make sure its secure and does accurate reading.

I presume normal apple warranty don’t cover accidental damage? Hence better get AppleCare+? This includes the higher end titanium right? Although they have 2 years warranty, it is better to buy AppleCare+ for accidental damage?

if you dont mind spending a bit more, yes ill always recommend applecare+ for all apple products.

PS: titanium model is Watch edition like Hermes, with applecare+ it goes from 2 years to 3 years. FYI
