Watercooling Coolant Questions

Yup, removed the filter liao, now bending a new straight through pipe. Lots of work for a first timer doing rigid.

Oh, I'm using Thermaltake C1000 Red Opaque coolant.

using life distilled water + mayhem biocide, 3 years service, resv still show clear water.

only ek fittings a-bit rust, quality is cui compared to alphacool and bitspower.

Will be draining my loop tomorrow. The white powder substance is almost clogging my GPU block. Did a quick check online, Thermaltake C1000 Opaque Coolant is known to cause such problems, lots of users faced clogged blocks after using it.

It's just super frustrating for me since I've barely used the system for two days and now I've to down it again. All the tubes and blocks are contaminated; I'll definitely need to change all my tubes, I just hope I don't have to dismantle the blocks to clean the inside.

I want to use custom watercooling for my new build.

I am currently waiting for my new PC parts to reach me. Should i assemble the PC while using a AIO cooler first or should i wait for all the parts including the Custom watercooling and build it at one go ?

If you have an existing cooler, use it to build up partially and boot first. Ensure none of your parts DOA and work as per intended before mounting them to custom water cooling loops.

U can try washing the tubings with soap or something then rinse off with distilled water.

As for blocks, there shld be screws along the glass side of the block. Remove those to wash internally. MAKE SURE you put back the gasket along the guidelines of the block. Any small misalignment will cause a leak.

At the same time, do check on your case compatibility for radiator such as certain thickness before it hits your motherboard. Do include fans (25mm thickness) as well. A good way to check and confirm is to check in Overclock.net. There will be users there that uses H440 with WC. Can take some cues from their build.

Also, do have a rough idea of how you want the tubing to flow from point to point. Only important thing to note is that reservoir must connect to pump/pump top immediately. Cannot put anything in between like waterblocks, flow meter, radiator, etc. Coz the moment ur pump run dry for some time due to lack of water, it will spoil permanently.

GPU: Evga RTX 2080 ultra XC
Case: Lian li PC-O11 Dynamic

For the water cooler parts, I will buy from EKWB. Only thing radiator and fan i will buy it from Thermltake.

Do you think it is ok to mix?

As long as the material from your cpu/gpu block and radiator are the same, it should be fine. DO NOT mix aluminium with copper, even if it is nickel plated.

But, thermaltake radiator isnt well known for performance. Can try hardwarelabs. Also, do sign up for newsletter from performancepcs. They occassionally release discounts of 10-15% with min spending. U can compare which is a better buy.

Oh the nickel plating is mainly for looks. Thats all. Copper do tarnish and wont look nice. So nickel plating will resolve this. Havig nickel and copper copper is not an issue.

Try not to mix aluminum and copper unless you are using proper additives. Else it will cause aluminum to corride.

Its entirely possible for aluminum and copper/brass to be together. Most AIO uses copper cold plate and alu radiator. As i sId, coolant must be firmulated correctly (most pc coolants are not).

So best is dont mix.
