using Paynow that can link to OCBC app or Changi Pay the first important tips is no admin fees to be charged per transaction, else no worth as I using my Citi card link with Alipay during my CHINA trips was charged every transaction for admin fees. In the end using cash most of the times.

Is it possible to use wechat or alipay to tap into metro and buses? Or I have to purchase an equivalent of EZ link and top up the card

I used Alipay for train and bus. Entry and exit via scanning of qr code. Was not aware there is a tap function in Alipay.

Thanks me too. Alipay basically god mode in shanghai and hangzhou. So far only spent $5 sgd out of the $1000 I changed. And that is because I insisted to pay using cash

One thing is there are different service agreement you have to accept before using the service. I never read any of it sia later they deduct until my cc card kosong

Just back from China.
Managed to link cc (include the YouTrip mastercard) to both WeChat and Alipay, and both works.

Alipay works 99.9% of the time.
The couple of times when it didn't work are small shops and need to use WeChat.

Did you register your WeChat using sg telco number or china nos.? Is the wallet services enabled for both ?

Can I check the summary of my understanding is correct?

1. Both Alipay and WeChat pay can link up SG CC.
2. Both will incur 3% admin feee for transactions more than 200RMB.
3. Both can linkup with YouTrip Mastercard (better exchange rate) but still subjected to 3%.
4. OCBC pay (via in apps scanner) can act as Alipay. No 3% but lousy exchange rate. Paynow need to link to OCBC pay to work
5. Although verified in SG, WeChat pay still verify upon making transaction in China.

I planning for F&E family trip next year, trying to sort out payment methods

The 3% for payments over RMB200 is charged by the payment apps, not by YouTrip, not by OCBC.
