Does anyone have problems getting My cloud access on their mobile? I am using Singtel as my IP but can't seem to get the settings for the My cloud access to work. Do you need to port forward? Which ports can be used? Pls help. Thanks!

Using the previous version mybooklive, should be quite similar. Quite straightforward to setup, followed instructions. No port fwd required, uPnP I believe. May be dependent on your router as well. But not on Singtel BB so can't comment on that.

i was using mybook live all along on singtel 2wire 5012NV router. remote access is not configurable, but i have no issues using mobile access to generate activation code for my iphones and ipads to access with the WD & WD Photo apps.

Yesterday I decided to go ahead to purchase the 4TB WD MyCloud since confidence is there. After installation, I realized there is no mobile access function like MyBook Live. Though there is a code generation feature for device access, I cannot activate the code as the system keeps saying error generated make sure your network connectivity is correctly configured. And the worst nightmare is WD Mycloud seems to override some settings on MyBook Live and now MyBook Live mobile access is also not working!!

I believe it has to do with the 2wire router settings which of course I hope anyone here can help advise. I called SingTel tech support to help advise on router config and they point me to Malifax, which I can only call on Mon-Fri. Sat is half day.

I'm waiting to call Malifax now to find out. Meanwhile hoping to get some advise here on the router configuration.

I picked up the 3TB model from Challenger a couple of weeks ago. Setup was quite easy but the issue I faced is with security password; not sure whether it is caused by Windows 8.1. The software is pretty good.

Its a great value as a NAS where I store and stream all my movies, video clips and pictures to my Minix media player.

Also using it as my own private Cloud - no problem with remote access by my Android and Apple devices.

Of course with 3TB, it is also backing up my PC system files and all my personal working files.

Very happy with the WD MyCloud. Still learning and exploring all its features.

Update: I have used MyCloud for more than a month now and still feels it is a good buy, and a useful device to add to the home.

Recently I also redeployed an old 2TB HDD as a backup/mirror of MyCloud with is now about 1TB used. I did a SafePoint and it took close to 24 hrs to complete the backup - despite using USB 3 cabling. I checked with WD and they say this is normal.

Questions:
1) For my next backup/mirror, and assuming that MyCloud stands at close to 1TB used, will it take another 24 hours? Or will the backup/mirror cover only files that have been changed?

2) In doing the SafePoint, it does a complete mirror of MyCloud. Is there a way to select only certain folders and not all the folders? About 50% of the files in MyCloud are movies, and I don't need to include these in the backup/mirror.

A follow-up to my earlier post:

1) I just did an "update" to my Safepoint, and it took only a few minutes. This is because the backup works on an "incremental" basis - only changes and new files/folders are added.

2) Cannot select folders for Safepoint; its the whole image or nothing!

A problem I have faced is that "links" I send to my friends to allow them to access certain files/folders on my WD MyCloud, do not work!

What are the read/write speeds over gigabit ethernet? Cant find the figures over this thread's 4 pages.

what is the difference of this and a nas device?

This is a single hdd nas. You cant do raid for this nas.

Other nas has double bays for 2 hdd.

Their latest FW 4.00 has brought a lot of grief to many users - you can go to the MyCloud forum to see the pages and pages of complaints. Fortunately mine is still working OK after the FW upgrade, but I am nervous I may also be affected with the issues reported.

Hi, I have some queries about WD MyCloud/ MyCloud Home:

How does the automatic backup of my mobile device work?
For example, if I take photos today, and those are backup in the WD drive. If I delete some of the photos in my phone tomorrow, or move them to a new folder in my phone, how will the backup work then? Will it create a mirror image of my phone's storage, or will it simply backup the changes included (possible duplicating photos in the WD hdd if photos were moved to new folders)?

Has anyone purchased mycloud home? Any review? Any recommended seller to buy from, other than challenger?
