something did cross my mind a couple of days ago. I'm wondering if m1 implemented fast dormancy on their system?

note ii had removed it's fast dormancy mode selection to end users which I can't check.

yes, most likely its a fast dormancy compatibility issue between Samsung and M1. even when I set to fast dormancy on my s2 now, the h+ signal doesn't change to h that fast anymore, when previously it changed after about 3s of no data transmission.

But fast dormancy only matters for 3g networks. Even when i'm on 4g, I still experience whatsapp lag issues.

phone that kicks itself into HSPA during idle seems to encounter this issue. whereas older phone that rest in HSDPA are less likely to be affected ( read less likely). what's surprising is that M1 network doesn't allow phone to idle in UMTS aka 3G. it sounds like a lack of proper support?

unfortunately no fix for it yet.

But how come my colleague who is using note 2 with Singtel or starhub not facing this problem?

Oh ya! now I remember, ino dosent seems to drop its connection down to G. Probably there's no fast dormancy there. We can try disabling fast dormancy on note 2, but the battery will drain fast. :s12:

Eh not just M1 leh. I'm on StarHub and this has been an issue since last month. Didn't have this issue when I went HK for a week in Dec while using their telco's prepaid data sim.

So I'm pretty sure its StarHub's problem...

Note 2 lte user.

I am also a StarHub user - same issue with whatsapp notification coming in late - sometimes by as much as 30mins on 3G

No issues when I am on wifi - so it's a network issue :(
