Download "go SMS pro". You may even customised SMS tone to desired contacts too. Is free. Never look back.

Care to share what firmware you are on currently? Thinking of flashing myself instead of going down for them to do it cus rooted. Haha

Currently on 4.1.2 after they reflashed my firmware.

The bad news is, the problem came back today. However, I THINK (THINK) I know what is actually causing the problem, at least, on a very elementary level (and perhaps how to keep it from occurring). Will do a bit of experimentation tonight and get back to you guys.

samsung software very weird, for the same version, the behaviour is not consistent for different handset. It's works well on yours, doesn't mean it works fine for mine.

when i bought the note 2 new, the 3G was not working. Was told to upgrade the firmware, which at that time was DMA6. I did it at home but the problem still persists. So the next day, i send it to samsung service centre. They put in the older DLL7 firmware version. but my other friends also on DMA6, all have 3G working ah :s22:

Yes bro, M1. Any specific info you need? I can just type it out.

Hmmm not sure. This "DMA/DLL" thing - is it the baseband version? Mine reads N7105DXDLL1.

In any case, results of my little experiment in the next post...

So I remembered, late last night, I used the Clear RAM function. This morning, the problem came back again. To test it out, I rebooted the phone, then used Clear RAM at around 2030. At about 2230, I asked someone to send me a Whatsapp text. As expected, it came in late, at 2242. Immediately, I rebooted, then asked for a new Whatsapp. It came in instantly.

Somehow, at least for me, using the Clear RAM function seems to disrupt either a Whatsapp setting and/or a generic notification setting, which cannot be reactivated by entering Whatsapp. It's crude, but a simple way to get it working again (at least for me), seems to be rebooting the phone.

Will monitor over the next few days and see how. Meanwhile, if anyone tests out my hypothesis, maybe you could post about how it went for you.

EDIT: Hmmm I just got a Whatsapp 7 minutes late without Clearing RAM. Annoying. Looks like it might not have anything to do with Clear RAM afterall. Or even firmware.

Seems like I found the issue.

m1 4G uses Dynamic NAT to establish connection from our device to Google(whatsapp uses google push).

Which means for every session established with google for push services(this will happen every 15 to 28 mins according to one's post), m1 firewall will use one of the IP range which belongs to m1 for the connection. The problem here is the connection(I meant all connections, including those other than to google push) for every session created is different! Which means the connection of the return path back will always be inconsistent, and that explains why a new session is establish before you receive notification for push again!

I have check Starhub and Singtel for their IP changed frequency compared to m1. M1 changes can be as soon as few seconds!! As for the rest, they do not change at all until you disconnect your phone from the Network! ZZZZZZ

So meaning to say 3g will not have this issue? And the solution is to use 3g and not 4g?

For me 3G no diff, previously using 3G and had this problem. Thought it was due to 3G, upgraded to 4G and still having the same problem.

Solutions I found:

Go to setting and disable your developers option. After that, no lag at all..

Hope it helps! :)

Ok i suspect is the apn issues that it is set for m1.

Cause i on m1 line both my iphone 5 and note 2. However when whatsapp that i sent in. iphone 5 will receive first. Note 2 will receive only when i go in. If not it will be 20mins later.

I suspect is either the apn setting issues or the Note 2 firmware issues or the whatsapp issues that has bug.

Cause what i do know since the latest firmware updates the firmware issues has a lot of problem in showing the 4G network strength.

I believe it's an M1 problem.

I have been on Android ever since I started using smartphones and Whatsapp. Was on Singtel previously, no such issue. Then I switched to M1, initially no problems, but only since last year then I started having this problem.

If I'm not wrong, this issue doesn't happen when you guys are on WiFi right? It's only when using 3G then it happens.
