I'm not sure how high high-rise trousers should be. Currently they sit just below my belly button

planning to do trouser and suit.

have been using seamless bespoke and sze sze - there seems to be something off with the trousers.

am thinking of going with KayJen or Meiko, or any other “better” tailors. any reviews or the two and open to recommendations

I had my suit done at Meiko last year. Very happy with the fit. Looks good on photo and on TV.

I chose Loro Piana material. It has a nice sheen to it. So quite pricey.

Hello, I am planning to do some short sleeve shirts in hcmc using my own fabric. I contacted the tailors online and I received quotes between 600k vnd to 1.2mil vnd. I would like to check whether is 1.2mil vnd for a short sleeve shirt using my own fabric a reasonable price? The tailor said that they will allow 1 fitting and they will do all the buttons sewing by hand. Thanks.
1.2M VND is on the high side. 600K VND is about right. Depends on your relationship with the tailor too. The tailor normally tailors a shirt for free for me using my fabric if I tailor a few suits with them using my fabrics.

The fabrics were on sale from collaro. Nelson who runs Silver Strip is pleasant.

I think I shall make another pair of trousers with higher rise, I've been influenced by instagram

Hi all, starting work soon and am going to Vietnam for a week next month. Wondering if it's possible to get a suit and maybe some shirts and trousers done in time? If so, would be great to get some recommendations as well!

I think it's a bit wrong to discuss and recommend Vietnamese or BKK tailors on this thread as it will affect the local tailoring scene. I posted a link to a guide(USD20) that I wrote on the Vietnam thread, so if you want, you can check out the guide and discussions there, many Singaporeans travel there to tailor and tailoring is one of the experiences in these cities, a bit like "where to shop, where to club".

Just curious and to the benefit of everyone here, anyone knows the local tailors that charge GST? With GST now 8%, that means a $1500 suit becomes $1620?

Maybe can make a listing so that we factor the gst in our evaluation to tailor with these tailors.

The side adjustors on trousers, what measurement makes it so that you can tighten them more?

Side adjusters typically allow for about -1/2" worth of tightening per side, so that adds up to -1" tighter if you pull it on both sides. You can forcefully pull until its limit, but that'll just create a large, unsightly folded bulk of cloth. Doing that also place a lot of stress on the fabric, so you run the risk of tearing it - especially if your pants fabric is very light.

I guess the logical thing to do next is simply reduce the waist size for next pair
Yeah... alteration to reduce the waist size is a rather simple and straight-forward thing so it's best to just do that. It's so annoying to wear loose-waisted pants that keep sliding down throughout the day.
