I think thats the risk going to a tailor. U have to trial and error with several tailors to get the best u have in mind.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Dreamland will make it right for me. Coz I made 2 shirts at one go! Damn, should have made only one piece to try first... :(

if u're not satisfied u can always get it changed THATS the good thing about tailoring
sometimes u may go into a shop say... Raoul/Zara and find the sleeves a tad too long... else it fits perfectly... u may either "close 1 eye" and buy, or buy already go somewhere else to alter
my Oxford shirt i've also told them to change it before
my Tessuti shirt nv given back to them... but have given them feedback and told them to "tweak" my next shirts on a couple of occasions... as the flaw/my preference was not that big an issue.
one VERY important thing is the tailor's views as well...
what may be fitting to a very traditional tailor, may not be fitting to u at all... u ask him to take in, he may suggest something less fitting than what u may like too

I totally agree mate.. I make a pair of pants at a very traditional tailor shop.. in the end he make my pants to what he wants and not what i want. The worse thing is that i am paying for what he wants my pants to be!!!! Damage 90!!!

2 pants for $90. Its WAY too tight. Sent it back for alteration once. But when i received it, i dun feel any difference at all!!!
I heavily suspect he didnt even alter at all. Simply trying to play with customer's mentality.
Coz some customers u tell them its alter(though its not) , they will believe wan

err...
How do u see if its single or 2ply cotton???

u can feel the difference. What you can do is when you go to the tailor, you ask for the different materials and u feel them.

even if it's "egyptian cotton", there are differences in how it feels because of how it is weaved.

i felt the Monti fabric and it was like damn shiok... but starting at about S$300 a shirt (min of 2 shirts because the fabric is couriered over from Italy), i probably won't splash out for it yet.
