Ya, coz ladies wear are very common and easily available in sg. Look at all the boutiques and choices when u enter any shopping mall. I guess its better and easier to earn females' money. :p

not exactly what i was thinking of... but ya part of the reason also lol
i think its more because ladies wear is more flexible. u can mix a spag top with a cardigan with a skirt and go to work already... not restricted to blouse and pants
and things like spag tops can be found anywhere, everywhere!
in fact, i don't think that more ladies dress in such attire than a blouse + pants/pencil skirt.

true and not true actually.

Actually eventually the level of dress-code will have to depend on your reporting supervisor. Some are quite old minded. They cant accept ladies in those peddlers pants, which are so call the modern office looks. At least for my whole dept, no peddlers for the ladies. But I have seen some young gals in my org other depts wearing that with a sexy top.:D
And man I do love those looks!:s7:

The so call traditional office wear for ladies is no pants, must be a skirt with blouse(with buttons and sleeves). Of course the skirt is those slightly above level, and not those "pawn" video type.:p

I think for us guys, office attire there isnt much variety. Long sleeves shirts, pants and leather shoes are basic unavoidable. Then its either your work environment requires u to have a tie, coat.

err... i'm talking about the general working "population" here. of course dress code depends on ur superior and your job nature. don't think u see much RMs in spag tops do u? as long as u're not on the front line, usually working attire is not that strict... as long as your skirt not too short/wild can already.
guys usually shirt and pants only. maybe sometimes just a more flamboyant shirt

hello all

been reading through the whole thread!

Great stuff, very informative. Most likely will get some stuff from Dreamland.

Few questions..

Have any of you used the tailor at Starhub Centre (Cuppage)? There's a tailor at the ground level. Any feedback?

Also, do any of you guys know which tailor would make shirts with white collar and white cuffs with a colored body? Any help would be appreciated!

kinda like that: This is a Turnbull & Asser shirt and its BLOODY expensive! About USD450-500 a piece.

Actually most tailors should be able to do it, just tell them you want white collars and cuffs.
you can also try matching different materials for the insides of the cuffs, something like what paul smith does if you know what i mean. i have a friend whose tailor did it for him.

some of the things u can do to "customise" your shirt (some tailors may charge extra) includes

1. Different material/colour for the collars and cuffs
2. Different (normally flowery) material on the inside of the cuff and collar
3. Different cuffs (there's more than just normal and french cuffs. Ask your tailor for more details)
4. Different collars (normal, thin, wide, spread, etc).
5. Different buttons (plastic colour buttons, mother of pearl buttons or shell).
6. Different coloured button holes.
7. Monogram (if you are so inclined)

I think is coz trying to carry a slightly more professional look with the white collars.

Personally, I am not a fan of that. So I dun have a piece of that in my wardrobe...
