i've collected my shirt from http://thehouseofgentlemen.blogspot.com/
won't really comment much yet... cos i've yet to wash the shirt, and this is my first day wearing
i will GPGT sometime during the weekend
fitting wise... pretty good i would say... (maybe partly cos i was wearing a tailored shirt when taking measurements and i told him how i wanted to "tweak" the cutting)
only thing is... i find the chest area a TAD too fitting.. would have been better if it was a quarter to half inch looser
hopefully it won't shrink after washing and make the chest even tighter (he said it wouldn't though)
overall, pretty pleased with the shirt... will post more pros or flaws as i discover them

service wise, there are pros and cons...
Pros
1: for those ppl looking for more trendy stuff, he's willing to play around to make the shirt more trendy(thats his vision anyway... tailoring more casual/trendy shirts)
2: he can go to your doorstep
3: having no shop front, being a 1 man show... i guess his pricing should be relatively cheaper for similar fabrics outside (i hope so)
Cons
1: having no shopfront, u have to make appmt, can't just walk into the shop as and when u like to both make and collect your shirt
2: he doesn't carry much floral fabrics.. for now, buttons wise also quite limited.

think the shirt shrank a tad... and i probably gained a wee bit of weight... shirt feels a bit tighter now
i'll definitely get him to make my shirt like a quarter inch bigger next time...
another thing i noticed is the button holes... like not de-threaded proerperly and not very well done esp at the cuffs area. maybe cos the buttons are thicker than most normal buttons. (not the circumference just the thickness)
other than these, seems pretty ok. the fitting of the shirt not really his fault as i told him to make it smaller than my original shirt. just didn't expect it to be so much smaller! he did mention he will take it in 3/4 or 1 inch i cant rem. but such things are hard to judge how the end effect will be i think.

Btw, I "tested" my red&white stripes shirt from Dreamland during cny.

Received positive feedbacks.
The only negative feedback which is from my grandma is that "why i look so skinny in that shirt?!"

Oh yes! another "problem" also.
Actually I dun see it as a problem, but my mum thinks it looks weird.

The armpit area, it looks abit crumbled even after ironing. I believe is coz due to the fact that I ask for a slim cut and with that two flaps at the back. Which explains why the crumbling there.

But still I like its slimness, though I dun think I can wear it to a buffet lor.:p

The pink one I think I will wear to work tmr.;)

aiya u are skinny what... lucky u're short... better being small sized than being a bamboo!
being slim fit it looks smarter and definitely less sloppy... but of course may accentuate your small frame
besides, your grandma older generation... they rather u be fatter ma

not sure what u talking about... is it the chest area seems a bit too tight when worn?

hmm...
How should I put it...

I think coz the sleeves are cut in the way that its slim and contouring to my arms' sizes. So its not really straight and flat. So when u try to lay the shirt flat, the armpit doesnt really lay flat nicely wan.

I think its a problem for me. Coz if I buy shirts off the racks, the main problems also armpit area too big.

Ya, quite common actually
I think is coz trying to carry a slightly more professional look with the white collars.

Personally, I am not a fan of that. So I dun have a piece of that in my wardrobe...

Different colored button holes???
They do that too?

Interesting...

Monogram, I think too dangerous le:p
If do wrongly might look like a fake LV. hehehe

The white cuffs and collars - i think some people refer to them as "bankers" shirts because the bankers seem to like it. I personally don't because i prefer something a little more subtle - like different materials for the inside of the collar and cuffs.

the button holes they can do contrasting colour - e.g. if your shirt is a light coloured shirt, they can sew the button holes with a darker colour.

as for buttons, i normally prefer the mother of pearl ones (only natural colour) unless the shirt requires coloured buttons then no choice but plastic. disadvantage is that the mother of pearl or shell buttons can break a lot more easily than the plastic ones.

Anyways, all that depends on the tailors. Some will charge extra for certain things (or if you are regular then it's a different story) and others will tell u it won't look good, etc.

White colour collar and cuff makes the shirt very "outstanding"...depends on whether the individual can carry anot....if cannot, then look quite cheapo liao..

Think i got this problem too with my Zara shirt>> i like the slim fit .. but if i wear it over few hours, i find that it is too fitting liao.. Abit uncomfortable leh.. + When i sit down, it doesnt look good near my waist/tummy area

haha

Hence when i tailored shirt, i ask my tailor to make slim fit cutting but the chest and waist area to be slightly loose ..

END result.. my new long sleeves shirts (3 of them), the chest and waist is comfortable yet slim fit ..... BUT my tailor also go and increase my shoulder width by abit (to keep the proportion).. END up, my shirt's shoulder "edge" is like 1 finger width more than my truth shoulder length..

so the shirt dont "sit" exactly on my shoulder loh

yeah.. meant the initials on the cuffs. Some people do it on the shirt pockets instead.

Oh.
Initials on shirt? Ok, I think i am quite "sua ku", never see before.:p

But if its done tactfully, it can be quite nice.

But I also heard of tailors sewing your name on the label part. As in the shirt is really customise for u, and it will not bear the name of the shop.
I think this is more cool.:D

initials/monogram is not that common i guess... but not very rare either.
and most of the time it's on the cuffs.
but i don't see the need to get it done... some ppl probably like it to show that the shirt is tailored

But I like the idea having my name signed off at the label rather than the shop's name:D

Dunno if Dreamland does it or not... heheehe
Coz I am thinking to make another shirt, maybe next mth.

Btw, guyss. Any recommendations what fabric is gd?
Coz I really run out of idea le. Red, pink, blue, grey, white, brown. I all have le. No green pls. I think it might end up looking like uniform...

you can buy a shirt off the rack and get it monogrammed after that...

anyone ever try online tailor before?
heard a lot of good things about http://www.jantzentailor.com/ but not sure how to measure myself...
