Where to tailor clothes =D

Anyone got any recommendation when it comes to tailoring clothes (both guy & gals)?


Today i just to MAsterTailor @ Golden LandMark.. The owner seem like pro leh... Ask him to help me tailor a black blazer (Italian cutting aka slim cut)... Charge me @$165 & could be ready by this friday

Seems not bad & the price is cheap & reasonable... My fren tailor shirts @ the shop b4.. workmanship not bad. Hence Friday i am going to judge it myself =D

i make my shirts at Tessuti @ Peninsular or Oxford @ OUB Centre
my shirts are typically in the $100 or $120 range
pants in $100 range

i don't think 100-120 is expensive. u pay such prices for the fabric. not that the tailor's charges are expensive... just that the tailor typically carries better fabric
shirts from raoul are even more ex at 100+ yet the fabrics are nothing to shout about right and it's not made to fit your body either right?
CYC is typically 100 and above too. theres 2 outlets 1 and republic plaza II and 1 at raffles hotel

usually go for at least 2-ply cotton for shirts and maybe cashmere wool for pants(depends)
fabric... when u go to the tailor u can choose from there what... don't have to buy yourself

A rather well-done review on several tailors in Singapore, though the review only applies to shirt tailoring.

From my past experiences, I have a personal preference for CYC at Raffles Hotel (shirts), but I've tailored stuff at Mohan's Custom Tailoring at Far East Plaza too. It's not too shabby, worth a shot. Just a few weeks ago they made this tapered one for me which actually fits me to a tee. (and it's cheap I paid $50-$60 for one.)

If you're a little more daring, you might want to check out Victor York at Boat Quay; he has some of the loveliest designs around. Excellent tailor (relatively pricey though); I've only visited once.

P.S. TS can you please include details of your 'Italian cutting aka slim cut' black blazer? (especially with regards the fabric)

If I'm not wrong, the difference between 2-ply and 1-ply lies in the weaving techniques used. In the 2-ply weaving technique, two threads are put together and then twisted to form one yarn. The weaving creates a strong and smooth material that is more desirable in shirt-making, as compared to 1-ply cotton. As such, 2-ply cotton is more comfortable to wear.

You will be able to tell the difference between the two when you come into contact with both; the 1-ply cotton fabric will tend to feel thinner.

yup... there are some 1-ply cottons that are so thin it clings to your body
so if u have a less-than-perfect body the shape of your chest, tummy all can be seen clearly lol

maybe now ppl around here will be educated on tailoring instead of simply saying "$120 wa your tailor so ex can make shirt at $60 elsewhere"

I've not heard of that fabric before, unless you're referring to a polyester blend, which is really really hot...
