It will drop eventually, just that how much. Since last few mths there is a news of nvidia getting back their unsold GTX GPU. With such amnt of GPU, probably the drop won't be so many, Maybe just a littlem

If new gpu is not enticing and alrdy priced so high, doubt last gen gpu will even drop price. Since there will be new demand for it.

The prices of GTX 1080 were dropped below S$650 during the national day sales.

The prices of 1070 TI also dropping below S$600 now.

Still can't compete with US prices that can drop below S$500 for new 1080s during discounts(ebay 15% etc), if you have friends that can help you access the market then ask them to buy but the downward trend is obvious enough.

The excess stock from the failed mining boom gamble that was pushed down from Nvidia should be floating around 3rd party sellers, they probably gonna get rid of it over this year/next.

Would a GTX1080 suffice for 4K30 gaming? I know 1080Ti would be better, but the pricing seems to be a huge jump, even if compared to 2nd hand 1080Ti.

You can try SLS, some stores have stocks they over ordered during the cryptocurrency hype. Managed to get a sapphire rx580 4gb cheaper than retail price.
