how come there are still such limitations since the bandwidth/what not travels in light

yawns mine routes to Japan straight.

You might have to wait a while for <40ms to the west coast. PC-1 is already 80ms, let alone from SG.

40ms pings to the USA are in the same schedule as flying cars…

I hate to say this but the RTT/latency in fibre optic technology in the present day is limited by the speed of light.
