EV haters talk until how lousy and bad EV are. Nowadays see car fire must be EV EV EV.

Part of it is probably push back from what is perceived as being forced down the throat rather than a freedom to choose.
It's one thing to choose to eat something healthy vs being forced to eat something healthy.

Another thing is that the EV adoption appears to be too rushed, with suspicions of green washing, simply moving the point of pollution elsewhere up the chain just to be able to claim to be environmentally friendly when the net effect might be negative, especially for Singapore where the policies favour changing a new car after 10 years and not say continued use of the same EV, which is where the real net gain begins to accumulate.

Cos it's a tech product, not a real engineering thing. Technically, it is not better and less practical than ICE. Just in SG, gahmen promote it as such. Wait till charging price keep going up. Already now hybrid and EV $/km is almost matching after considering all costs over 10 years. China only go EV because of smog issue and less reliance on fuel from other countries. And also because EV are low skill products, they can easily mass produce and dominate the market.

infrastructure and LTA structure i guess, it take 5 mins to pump petrol but 30 mins to charge to 60%. Unless you stay private , the faster adoption means longer waiting time , not sure if anyone interested to wake up at 4am to remove the charging pump to avoid being penalised

power of EV imported penalized by LTA structure, end up insurance cost etc go up

what singapore need maybe is lower power EV after all it is city driving most of the time

Overnight dont have penalty......they have timings that dont have hogging fee one.

It’s like last time when people changed from horse to car, many pple would probably have said:
- car will chibaboom, horse will not
- so few petrol stations later no petrol car cannot move how? Everywhere got grass, so ride horse is better.
- cars will replace all the jobs like horse breeder, saddle maker, horse shoe maker, etc
