We got no natural resources etc to support the this. Costs will go up as companies will be forced to pay workers a minimum wage per hour, everything will rise. Thoughts?

Of course can.

All employers will support fully, as long as the minimum is lower than what they are paying now.

When old lee start to ask investor to open business in Sg, it may work.

Now if minimum wage laws kick in will be a sudden large increase of operation cost that stress investor to shift their operation to another country.

So the answer is no.

However our government can lower foreigner intake by limiting Work Pass holder especially like E-Pass holder to compete jobs that Singaporean want to do.

Another thing our government can do is by dividing Singapore Citizen & PRs for quota system instead of current system of combining together as 'Local full time employee' which will force organization to have at least 1 Singaporean instead of fully relies on foreigners especially PRs (and E-Pass Holders).
so this bring the question of why is sg still accommodating low level manufacturers?

s pass has a minimum wage of 2k. e pass up to 4k

Apart from that, as a wealthy & high cost of living country but very limited & low amount of welfare to their citizen, government can consider giving some reasonable amount of 'allowance' while helping their unemployed/retire citizen to look for job which include healthcare benefits too.

high rental will force biz to close, not minimum wage

thats only for retailers la. the industrial zones still have very cheap rents, relatively speaking. as long as your business doesn't need a physical shop out in the malls or a huge warehouse, rent is not a major issue.

Singapore have much lesser problems for top management to handle compare to other cheaper operation cost country & they are still earning profits.

When cheaper operation cost country have as less or even lesser problems for top management to handle compare to Singapore, organization will not hesitate to shift the their operation out of Singapore because cheap labor is always a short term solution to save cost & bring up profit margins which there is no way we can compete with other cheaper operation cost country even if we work for free or near to free.

The only business unit that organization will allow it to remain operating in Singapore is sale centre (and maybe service centre).

so this bring the question of why is sg still accommodating low level manufacturers?

Not really. Depend on the business operation. To have a small office in one of the industry building only cost around $2K to $3K. What is the salary for E-Pass or/and fresh graduate expecting salary in Singapore? The answer is $3K.

high rental will force biz to close, not minimum wage

As long as it is set around the market clearing wage I dun see y is tat a problem
Its more of a policy to prevent our workers from being short change especially the lower income group

So how much minimum wage are you looking at?

An admin assistant is getting around AUS4,000 a month in Australia while Singapore only get around SGD2,000.

To add on, don't forget that any job require Manual work MUST pay 1.5 to 2 times for OT pay regardless of position like Engineer. [So 72 hours (total working hours allow by MOM) - 44 hours (normal working hours) = 28 hours of OT per month]

will not work, cause they will rather hire below minimum wage FTrash

Minimum wage means they cannot pay below the level set by govt. The problem is companies would start to reduce all wages to this minimum wage and we would suffer again.
