hi guys, it's been a while since I popped back to take a look. hope you have been enjoying your wines thus far. Feel free to share with the thread on the wines you have enjoyed; remember to take a pic!

it's been dunno how long since I wrote my white wine recommendation. I'll see if I can gather the strength & time to compile a red wine wine. Stay tuned... Hopefully.

@5star_pundit do let us know the taste & your opinions of the wines and spirits you have been featuring :)

Hi ikileo, do you have any good burgundy reds and whites around or below the S$40 price range?

extremely long overdue but it's near impossible to find a good burg below $40. the region has a price premium pegged to it. The most basic of basic starts around $40-ish and at that level you're better off buying from other countries that make wines from Pinot Noir.

you can, instead, look for Pinot Noir from New Zealand (red wines in burgundy are made from Pinot Noir). Look for key areas for NZ Pinot Noir like Central Otago and Martinborough.
Producers like Escarpment, Craggy Range, Chard Farm, Nautilus, Dog Poing etc... are quite accessible and available, especially at 1855 wine shop.

White Burgundy is made mostly from Chardonnay, you find some basic whites in nicer supermarkets and wine stores like Louis Jadot that makes a wide range of quality from entry level to top of the top bottlings.

You can pick up some nice Aussie Chardonnay. Reliable producers within budget can be Cape Mentelle, Tyrrells, McGuigan, Coldstream. If you want to get a close to white burgundy experience from Australia without breaking the bank, you can look for Shaw Smith M3 Chardonnay. Consistently delivers. Just a bit more ex at $60+ but worth it. need to breath and chill.

If you (or anyone) are keen to purchase from wine importers directly do PM me. They're usually cheaper since you are buying wholesale but typically there will be an MOQ.

where do u guys usually get your wines from?

which online shops or retail stores?

Fairprice Finest has a decent range

For retail there is 1855 bottle shop which as a few branches.

Wine Connection is good for wines that have a wide appeal to the casual wine drinker.

For me most of my wines are purchased direct from importers as I'm looking for specific wines. To buy from importers usually have to hit MOQ and have them delivered to my place or I pick up.

Honestly if u are going to buy a wine fridge you should invest in a more premium brand.

The other thing to take note is ur buying habit. If u intend to buy wine to keep and age then get the wine fridge. If you find you tend to buy wine and drink it on the day/week/month itself then don't bother buying a wine fridge.

Basically buy a wine fridge only if u intend to start aging your wines for a couple of years.

A reliable producer is Marques Casa Concha Syrah available at FP finest. If u are at 1855 the range is so wide so it's best to just ask the staff on site.
