1 x Chateau Beychevelle Grand Saint Julien (75 cl)

1 x Chateau Canon Mis En Bouteilles Au Chateau Sr Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe (75cl)

am not going to waste it, family doesn appreciate the wines. I am not such a fan for these 2 also, most prolly intend to sell it away :|

do you know the appox cost?

the Chateau Beychevelle Grand Saint Julien 1982 is retailing in Wine Culture (along bukit timah road) for about $367 SGD.

as for the Chateau Canon, depending on the year, it should retail in the $200 region.

that's good to hear. the only thing now is getting more people and finding a location.

as for the vino you're bringing, wow, that's a pretty expensive bottle. to be honest, i wouldn't recommend it because I'm trying to get novice drinkers or total beginners to join in and explore more into the vino. So i would think something a little less complex and plus i'm trying to set a budget to the price of each bottle. I'm thinking something under $50. Keep it simple and fun.

as much as i would love to try the Pichon, i'd rather you open it when there are other wine nerds around to fully appreciate it. hope you understand.:s12:

i ask people for suggestions or to state a time/place they prefer, virtually no one wants to say anything.

make it EVEN simpler for all the lurkers then.

4-5 people (exlucding me), Wine Connection at cuppage centre, a weekday evening: next monday or tuesday night, 8/9pm. basic introduction and appreciation.

Those interested PM me. if cannot get 4-5 people, then i'll just organize one for my friends only.

The upcoming World Gourmet Summit in Singapore has several wine events. Some are quite expensive especially the wine masterclasses but if you have the disposable income, it should be a good experience.

for myself i will be attending the Chianti Classico Wine Fair next sunday. You can still register for it at the World Gourmet Summit website:

i was down at tampines 1 today, had some project to do there. walked into the basement of the new shopping centre. (couldn't really be bothered with uniqlo etc).

1st off, there is a Bottles & Bottles outlet there that have a decent number of 2005 vintage (supposedly one of the best vintages in the last century) grand cru, Cru Bourgeois and pomerol wines from bordeaux. for those who don't know, these are 4th growth wines and above (although pomerol doesn't have that kind of classification). either way, these are (supposedly on paper) wines of higher quality than the usual vin de pays (table wine) or bordeaux superior classification you get in most supermarket bordeaux. you can go google more about the classification or wiki it.

so either way bottles & bottles have several cases of those in their store selling for as low as $38, with most of the in the $40 and $50 region, which seems like a steal. but remember, do your homwork, don't just buy simply on the price and the 'brand name'. you can use cellartracker.com and check out the tasting notes of the wines, plus in the name of the wine and the vintage and you'll see what people write. don't care too much about the points, because it really is very subjective.

i will be going back down again tomorrow (for project) and pick up a bottle of white bordeaux wine, because they're so underrated and deserve more attention.

2) At the cold storage next dorr, something caught my eye. another supposedly pricier wine: 2005 Château Angelique de Monbousquet, Saint Emillon, Bordeaux going for 39 bucks instead of the usual 79 bucks. they're imported by auric wines who bring in quite a large number of premium wines. so i dunno why they suddenly want to sell so low, maybe they want to clear stock.either way i am very tempted to buy this however, from the tasting notes online that i read and researched on, this wine is highly tannic and would require more years of storage or several hours of proper decanting. so this is not a buy now drink now kind of wine. I am curious to see how this wine develops over the years.

ok, i'm done typing...long article. hope to get some feedback and so we can talk more about wine. i'm dying for a discussion.

came back earlier this evening from the Chianti Classico Fair. Great stuff, the experience and palate expansion is worth more than the price i paid. I got to taste about 39 different types of Chianti Classico. Very interesting. Will be putting pics and a link to my tasting notes soon.

Here are the pics of the Chianti Classico Wine Fair at St Regis 26 April 2009. These were taken around the end of the event so it's mostly the exhibitors packing up. As expected with these events, lots of ang moh and ang moh pai people. And i'm probably the youngest there. but i surprised people with my knowledge and ability in wine tasting.

My favourite wine for the event. Too bad it was one of the most expensive.

Yay! Nice to meet a fellow Italian wine lover here. I really like wines based on the Sangiovese grape (Chianti, Vino Nobile di Monthepulciano, Brunello), and on my occasional holidays to Italy, I cannot resist lugging some home.

Chianti used to be much cheaper in SG. I remember a time when you can get Chianti Classico from Antinori for something like $30 in Cold Storage. Chiantis are good for easy-drinking when young, but a few notable labels have nice aging potential.

Now, if only someone will think of bringing in Sagrantino wines...:)
