@Beta_Tester: so for you guys, what's a good day/time? it'll probably have to be next week at the earliest though.

@Delusion_Disorder: do u work for NTUC or one of their importers? i have seen the ashbrook several times at NTUC but never got around buying it.

I wish I am working in wine industry....( I am working in a very boring company...something like raw material/commodities trading )....

I would say the Ashbrook Sau. Blanc is one of the best value white wine available in Sing. mkt.....it can be S$22's when promotion....

Per the Aussie wine commentator - James Halliday

“This estate is one of the quietest and highest achievers in Australia, maintaining excellent viticulture and fastidious winemaking.”

More on education lor, and some chilling, can learn some wine appreciation from u. I think the idea of paying u money then u go select sounds good. After a few thoughts, 1 person 1 bottle seems a little excessive. =:p

I think beta tester's idea not bad, go visit some restaurant that offers simple dishes, or even a buffet. Actually food court I also dont mind, just need a comfortable place to sit, eat and drink. Preferably not too noisy, so can learn some stuffs from u.

This is darn good. Drinks well above its price. I've stocked up half a crate in my fridge during the last C4 wine fair.
Another nice one from C4......bit more pricey..but it is quite alright when comparing their 1st wine....

My brief TN ...

Nice and rich aroma of a Black fruit (black currant) / herbal / Tobacco on nose
Taste is very pragmatic and heavy, acid, barrel, excellent balance between fruit sweetness.
Quite mature and smooth tannins, mineral aftertaste.
Although the 2005 Bordeaux red is still very young, as a 2nd wine..it is very delicious / ready / well drinking now.

Haha...seems that you also stocked up quite a bit during the last fair. :) I've this in my cellar as well. Waiting for the right time to open.

Not from last winefair ...but when they had promotion on S$62's after all discount( from S$85 ).

Current fair having this with S$62 before any discount (at least 5% when using POSB Card)...

the clementin pape clement to me tasted quite new world versus a classic bordeaux but quite delicious nevertheless. but i didn't want to fork out the money to pay for this during the fair. those who have it should try to drink it within a 10 year window from its vintage.

as for the wine dinner, here are the people so far (and should be the final list)

is anyone else missing?

if we get 6-7(max) people I would recommend about 3 bottles. i can buy them and we can split if you prefer me to select and show receipt later.

as for location, if we have it at food court (somewhere in town) we would have to bring our own glasses. but if we want to have it at a restaurant with free corkage, we don't have to worry about it.

Suggestions?

Half bottle per pax is just nice. Any more and we can't drive back! Each pax brings his own glass. Nice.

7 people should be just nice. but will everyone be able to bring their own glasses if we choose a food court? (probably food republic or something, ambience nicer)

i would prefer it to be this weekend, even more preferred to be sunday earlier evening (can start early if you don't wanna go home late) as next weekend is quite tight for me.

I'm quite yearning for a drink. Would like to join if its happening soon. Or pardon me if I just jump in rudely, how about we set it this weekend, and if we get 3-4 pax we just proceed and do another one thereafter?

Would personally prefer a cosy place that we can chat over nicer environment. Wine Connection, Wine Network, Winebos, Denise perhaps?
