Alcohol limits about a year ago. Got my cousin to bring in 2 bottles of 750ml wine without tax a couple of days ago. http://www.customs.gov.sg/insync/issue08/features/duty_free.html

My birthday weekend wines: http://www.cellartracker.com/event.asp?iEvent=13736

@kangzkangz: too bad i didn't go to that event. normally would have cos you get to taste a lot, but i am saving money for my trip next month. so have you got a grasp on pinots and chards? and noticeable difference between a Central Otago Pinot Noir and a red Burgundy?

The Kiwi Pinots (in general) are obviously fresher and fruitier than most red Burgundy. But the red Burgundy on tasting are not older 2006... still too closed-up, didnt get the nice earthy or herbal notes I expected.

TS>> any nice red Burgundy u recommend that is under S$50?

grouping all red burgundy as one is quite tough because there are so many sub-appellations and villages; each with their own characteristics. a gevrey will taste differently from a nuits st george etc...

as for recommendation, i do not have much experience with red burgs but i know that it is virtually impossible to find a good red burg under $50, unfortunately.

@reign: you mean the chateau de macard? that's a bordeaux right? not a burg. seems like it's decent enough. Good as a daily drinker from this year through 2012.

too much wine over the birthday weekend, then just yesterday had a company convention at a club no less, so alcohol was all over. thankfully i went home still sane and alert despite my drinks. this week will take it slow and relax and detox.

good thing i have some upcoming meetups with friends where I can clear my wines in my collection to make way for the new batch when i get back from Italy.

Here's a wine theme for this coming weekend: Drink a wine made from a grape you've never had or from a country you've never drank from and tell us how it was!

I really hope to get some replies here. I will do my part too by looking around for a varietal i've never had!

Water & Wine is having a sale offer for wines by Christian Moreau, a top Chablis producer. Chablis is a region in Burgundy which makes white wine using Chardonay. The wine from the region is also known as Chablis and IMO is a good place to start your burg journey as Chablis are generally more moderately priced among the white burgundy regions and still delivery great performance.

The entry level starts from $40 (and it's a pretty good buy) up to $105 for their top wine, which IMO is rather affordable considering other burgundy regions command prices for their basic wines from $80 and up.

This is a very temping offer for me but I can't buy any wine this money :( maybe just one....

One more wouldn't hurt (until the cellar is full) ;)

@nautilus: btw, sorry if i'm blur and need you to repeat again:

How much tax did you pay?
