i have been slowly updating my tasting notes from the trip. I will be uploading the link to see the page with all my wine experiences in Tuscany.

on a side note, at ENOTECA wine store at taka, I saw one of the wines I bought "Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva 'Rancia'". It costs about SGD$90+ here. I got it at the vineyard at around SGD$50. I felt very happy for myself then and there.

anyone drank anything in the past 2 weeks? been pretty quiet here.

or at least tell us the names of the wines you drank and overall whether you liked it or not.

wedding wine, TBH, it's best to talk to the retailer/distributor themselves as they may have a bulk discount.

as for what wines to buy, do take a look at the type of food you are serving and the type of guests you are expecting. If its light finger food or chinese food, it doesn't make sense to throw in a big burly cabernet or heavy shiraz, in that case a lighter red, white, rose or even sparkling can do the trick.

Also for your guests, I would assume most people do not drink wine regularly hence something more palatable and easy going with low tannins and some residual sugar may be more up their alley; rather than something complex and thought provoking.

It all depends, do let us know.

i have chosen the wedding wines i wanna drink this weekend and it has to suit the chinese food: i will bring an italian rose and a gigondas from the rhone valley.

on other news, Crystal Wines will be having a NZ Sauvignon Blanc and NZ Pinot Noir thematic tasting on 18th & 25th June respectively. It will be $25 and $35 respectively as well. It is a very fair price for those interested to go down to get a better grasp and understanding of NZ SB and NZ PN.

and lastly:

HWZ Wine Thread - Dim Sum + Wine Outing
Date: TBC
Location: Either Asia Grand or Imperial Treasure (Ngee Ann City) [free corkage]
Themes: White wines you think will go with dim sum

I would like to know how many are interested. I foresee each person paying at the very most <$25 for the dim sum. Since it's dim sum, it's easy to share and for some it will be a new experience pairing wines with dim sum, or even chinese food in general.

Please let me know. I hope to do it on a weekend sometime this June! More the merrier please! Noobs, pros, poseurs, allergic to alcohol; all are welcome.

Dropped by Ponti after work since it's near my office.

Like the lemony + toast bouquet of the Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Chard, but the acids are a little sharp on the palate. Definitely it will gobetter with some food.

All the reds are pretty decent with lively strawberries bouquet and smooth tannins.

whites are magical. i beleive we have to move the mindset away from 'red > white'. each type of wine is good depending on the time and place and what it is accompanying.

Count me in for the Dim Sum Wine outing, will be my maiden wine forum outing :) Would love to contribute more to the wine discussion, in terms of new wines drank etc. but can't find the time to organise my thoughts at the moment.

Had a lovely time in Tuscany too, Brunellos and all. It really is great to drive through the Chianti roads, and especially the great views at Montalcino. Because there was a Republic Day public hol while I was there, only managed to make one wine visit, to Siro Pacenti, Brunello producer. Overall, the prices there are really fantastic. Managed to get a 2004 La Colombina Brunello, reviewed at Wine Library TV, at 21 Euros. Maybe cos of the 2006 vintages coming out?? Btw the shop I bought from at Montalcino does online orders, if we can pool together an order of 12 bottles, of Brunellos, Super Tuscans etc, it can end up about 12 Euro shipping per bottle, which still ends up a decent price all things considered. Anyone interested? Maybe after I free up more space in my fridge heh...
