u all see this Gadget before? i saw it somewhere.. ppl say its good.. i forget where this person use it. But his one gt a stand one.. not by holding..

U guys think it helps the wine breathe?

i have an aerator from taka, but not as sophisticated as this vinturi. only used it when i have not enough time to breathe the wine in the decanter and only those not-too-expensive bottle. it works well for me...

Btw there's a California wine tasting at 1855 tonight and tomorrow. Must reserve.
http://myemail.constantcontact.com/...Event.html?soid=1103945123982&aid=xMFBPjbxMsM

Wines are 2 x Pinot Noir, 1 Zinfandel and 1 Cab.

I hear today's Grenache day. What's everyone's experience of this grape? I've only tried it in GSM, would be keen to try some varietal wines from Aus or Spain in the future...

That aside, have anyone tried these Aussie Shiraz? Anything exceptional about them?

Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz
Majella, The Musician
Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Shiraz Grenache

Grenache/Garnacha is a lovely wine. Get them from Spain and the Southern Rhone. Chapoutier's Chateauneuf du Pape is a 100% Grenache as opposed to most CdP being a blend.

as for the 3: Get the Clonakilla, skip the Musician and go for their 2008 cabernets (those can keep for more than a decade) or a long decant. As for the Kilikanoon, it's pretty decent but i'd target the Clonakilla.

just picked up 3 bottles from Grand Vin. They had a promo for a top producer in Nahe, Germany: Schlossgut Diel.

I first experienced this producer in 2008 when a friend's father gave me one and I loved it. I got their basic white cuvee, an 07 kabinett and a 1998 Auslese.

Am having pasta dinner at home while watching footy on telly. Drinking a 2008 The Winner's Tank Shiraz, Langhorne Creek. Not bad at all, dark purple in colour, dark fruit flavours with dry tannins. Not your typical Aus all-out fruit attack.

went to the wine class last wkend, it is quite interesting, and the instructor is humour too. but, i find the content is not indepth, and kind of scratching the surface (maybe the course is meant to cater for begineers). anyway, i did learn something out of the course.

Come join our dinners, u will learn a lit ;)

Btw what topics did he cover?

Lastly did anyone get anything from the crystal wines recent Isole e Olena flash offer? If it's within your budget I would suggest u get their 2007 cepparello. It's bloody good but u need at least 10 years of sleeping; 100% sangiovese

@reign: perhaps we could look at going to a casual pizzeria to just enjoy pizzas and italian wine? If i want my pizza and free corkage fix I'd usually go to Casa Verde at Botanic Gardens, order a pizza or two and take it to the grass patch in front of the open stage where orchestras play and drink wine there. the pizzas are enough for at least 2-3 people and cost about $24 per pizza at most. So we'd be spending on average $10 a person.

let me know what you guys think and confirm your attendence on the 2nd? (sunday).

@muthu: you are welcome to join us. You just need to bring a bottle of italian wine between $30 - $60
