Nothing below the 2000 era, bust my budget. :o Vintage 2000 or 2002? I remember seeing the 2002 one at that supermarket in Ion for 220ish?

Thanks.

@looiwte: it's ok. the WFA should be pretty good. Just get yourself some tickets and so will I, then we can have a great time there.

@reign: IIRC it's on the 29th. I posted a link in the previous page. How was the Carrefour fair?

@MuthuCurry: i try not to read reviews before i drink the wines so i minimize the pre-conceived notions. the Enoteca at taka basement carries a good selection but you gotta look past the stuff they put in the front of the shop. Personally i like their selection of half bottles. if you got the extra money do take a look at some of their higher end italian stuff.

i tend to go through some reviews be4 i buy a bottle, just to have some ideas what's the general feedback. i read cellartrackers quite a lot, cos i tend to get some clues from drinkers' feedback to see what's in common among the drinkers about the bottles under my radar. if not, i find it very hard to choose a bottle among hundreds of them ...

i just got back from the suntec fair as well. we tried quite a number of wines.

my gf got a sparkling moscato drinks. semi sweet, fine bubbles, overall delicious easy drinking wine.

in the end the 2 bottles i bought i didn't try them at all.

09 J Boutin Hermitage "Arena Mica" - 100% Syrah from the Northern Rhone. This has gotta sleep for a while.

09 Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay - 100% Chardonnay. Their top end chardonnay, but gotta sleep for at least 5 years first.

Overall, lots of entry level wine for tasting, but i think if you came earlier (i started at 8pm) there were perhaps more selections.

The small booth by Culina letting you sample their Miguel Torres Hemisfero Caremenere, that was a pretty good wine for the price. well made, good varietal character from a good producer. 100% Caremenere grapes.

Go to the shelves selling the various Rhone wines. Target the Cote Rotie, Hermitage, Cotes du Rhone, Gigondas & Chateauneuf du Pape. Check out the cremant de alsace (sparkling alsatian wine).

lots of bordeaux for sale as well. some aged ones too, but do your research before buying them.

It's great that u started posting! Let us know your wine experiences. Are there any wines that excite u right now? Would u guys be keen in meeting during the wine for Asia event itself?

Yes!! Don't know why been craving for chilled white wine this few days, I guess probably due to the weather. Any notable whites from california to look out for?

We yet to purchase the tix, thinking to buy standard or premium. What the main difference actually?

Californian wines in general in SG are of a high pricing scale, due in market of their local market and shipping and other costs, hence they don't make such great 'value for money' buys compared to other countries like Australia, NZ and Europe.

That being said, in California, the white wines that flourish there are chardonnay. sauvignon blanc and riesling don't work that well there. Californian chardonnays tend to be of an oaked and heavier style, so don't expect a NZ Sauvignon Blanc kind of mouthfeel. Cali wines are richer and heavier in general.

haha wow, looks like you went crazy there :)

let me know how your cotes du rhone village goes.

did u like the sancerre? u should try another type of white wine, also from the Loire valley, made from the same grape but from the sub region of Pouilly Fume.

YA! NEXT Time can we all go together and then my senses will be there.. This round my GF not with me.. so all hell broke loose..

I prefer this version compared to the other premiere cote under the same maker, which is $2 cheaper. this is where i saw alot of ppl getting this wine by the crate. the taste is much stronger and hear that this got a over 90 from wine review. For me. i like the after taste which lingers..

The sancerre is sweet and easy on the palate and recommended by sarah, kekeke

The Pinot Noir by the Giesen Brother is also very good., just that i wanna to try wine from other region than from NZ. so i didn;t buy it

ikileo will it be better if I leave the gigondas to rest for some time? I usually consume the wine I bought within the year or so.:s22:
