Yes to increasing the varietals, no to making it an unlimited list.. Agreed that there should be some boundaries to the grapes. Some suggestions:

White: Semillon, riesling, chenin blanc
Red: Malbec, carmenere, pinot noir

How?

I'd be surprised if you can get riesling or pinot sub 30 at full retail price

Thank you for making time for me to collect the wine today

no problemo. hope u enjoy it.

goes well with dim sum. just need to open it in advance in the bottle half and hour to an hour in advance.

it's a dry style, full bodied white with complex austere notes; so be prepared that it's not a regular fruity white wine.

It's normal price for a bdx tasting because it's popular and it's wines are not cheap. Either way I believe it's fully booked for the left bank one.

Next time we can do a bdx session.

Mmmm... Just bought a $24.90 wine from cold storage. A red wine from south of france. The brand is "Tanins", correct spelling, but it wasn't tannic. The wine is from Faugres, a sub region in the south of france. Grenache syrah Carignan blend. Good value drinker. Pics and full review is on my instagram.

Thanks for the info. The selection looks good as the wines are sponsored and they charge for the food & service only.

Bring own stemware? But there's so many varietals, then must bring so many stemware? It does make a difference leh. I'm not trying to be stemware guru or snobbish.

It's ok. Usually we make do with one glass or at most 2 glasses (one for red and one for white)

U can bring as many glasses as u can manage but 2 is plenty. Yes it does make a difference but even professional tasters don't go around carrying a bdx glass, a syrah glass, a Pinot noir glass, Riesling glass, Sauvignon blanc glass etc where ever they go.

And either way this is a casual session and havin a decent glass (red/white) would be sufficient to analyze the wine. Don't get me wrong, glasses do make a diff, but more often than not, the differences are subtle but we will be revisiting the wines over the duration of the session to see it's evolution which I feel I more useful to the consume and those reading the forum.

Hope u can join us :)

Oh and for those who want to join but don't have glasses, it's ok just let us (not penus, damn autocorrect) know and we will bring for you. No worries. We can bring some extra down.

I couldn't join you guys for the next tasting as my tasting frequency is being controlled... And in fact I was requested not to go for wines tasting. To me, what's the meaning of life when you are not given freedom to do whatever you like? Isn't it tiring when u always trying to impose control on someone else and be upset when u can't fully control them and facing the resistant?

Nothing much to say but I wish to send condolence to myself. :(
