I think worth it or not depends on what you value more liao. Just purely sound wise, I still prefer the haylou gt1 plus and that is like S$2X only. S2 still sounds good, and is probably more "fun" sounding with more bass and treble, it can get much louder, and some might prefer those things more. Most regular users probably aren't as particular or might not even know the type of sound signature they like, but minor things like the slight sibilance and the thinner mids takes away from the experience a tiny bit for me. For me the value is in the other stuff. Like USB-C charging, nice case, nice design. But i wouldn't pay more than 29USD for sure. hahaha

But ah, stuff like the truedot and gt1 plus are probably anomalies in the market. A lot of more mainstream TWS in the market are probably more expensive and might not even sound as good as the S2. So to a lot of ppl out there, it is still going to be really worth it, not to mention it's from a fairly reputable Chi-Fi brand.

I would have got GT1+ if it has volume control. I would have really appreciate the more complete functions. I wont say the Awei T10C i am using is perfect because the sound is kinda eeee, but functions wise meets all i need. No master slave (QC tws+) issue, have volume control, avg batt life only, good thing is price is ok. So that is my beater for walking out, while Sabbat E12 ultra is when i need to take long journeys on public tpt which of course now #stayhome no need de...

haha. yeah. i think that's the complain most ppl have, since some songs are louder, some are softer, and not all music players are able to normalise the volume. needing to take out phone to adjust volume might be a bit of a hassle for some. Though it's strange that the Truedots which is likely built by the same company, has volume controls for the aptx model. Maybe they will silently update the model in the future again and change the controls. haha.

Not sure if i'm in the minority but i rarely use the controls on the earbuds, maybe because my phone is always near me. If i'm using tws at home, my phone in on my desk, and it's easier to reach for my phone than to lift my arms. When i'm jogging i hold my phone in my hand, so again, easier to just control volume there. When I'm on public transport and walking around, my phone is in my hand most of the time too. Maybe once in a while when it's in pocket i'll use it to change tracks or what. So the controls not really a deciding factor for me. haha.

It has ENC (inferior to ANC) and the CC portion of the app is more capable than t1x (custom EQ, 3 latency modes, DSP sound improvement, etc)

FIIL+ app had been upgraded to ver 3.3.3. T1x users can upgrade the app by scanning the QR code on the manual, but not a must. So far, they only added support for FIIL CC and a new login to their own portal on the android version (not sure what that is for).

Yeah... It seems to be those 'Looks good, but.....' category.

For me, I am not particularly a fan of stem designs. Just for info as I think there are people that likes the design.

I don't like the battery life at all when its going to cost $100+.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I eventually went for the Air2. After 2 days of use, my thoughts:

Pros: good sound quality, fit is good due to buds of various sizes, call quality is ok, good aesthetics, great value for relatively low cost
Cons: reconnectivity is clunky as sometimes the left earbud will have no sound. Ease of connection not as seamless as Sony wh1000. Charging case feels filmsy and cheap. The cover feels like it is going to snap off anytime.

All in all, happy with my purchase with outlay of $100

I bought it at $105 lol. Overall I am pretty satisified with it.

meaning like air pods, with just 2 small things to put into your ear without any interconnecting cables,

thinking between the sony WF-1000X but seems like have connection issues and not so cheap

criteria :

battery life at least 5 hrs

water proof or resistant, not going to swim with it but if dirty or get caught in rain, dont have to worry,

sound quality, currently use SHURE 215, more bass person

connection : should have strong connect so that wont keep drop and affect your listening experience,

I think you need to wait for Alex to receive and review qcy T4. If it indeed can be customised in-app to include volume controls (and give up some other controls, just like liberty air 2 and liberty pro), then you got your buds.

FIIL cc do have the functions (app support with eq, low latency modes, seamless switching, ENC etc), but its the design (to me) and battery life...

gam xia! haha. i'm guessing you're using iOS? if so then QCC chipset can't do seamless.

But on android it can. Normally when connected will see like both L and R sides. If I put in the side that isn't connected as the master, music just keeps playing with no pause. When take out, resumes almost immediately. When i put in the one that is connected, it will take a sec or 2 to reconnect to the other side, then music resumes. Then if i take out the other side now, music comes on the other side almost immediately.

For KZ S2 with newer realtek chip works a little differently. There's only 1 connected device on the phone (no L or R). When I put in either side, no pause to music at all. but once i take it out, it pauses for a sec to say "turn on, pairing successful" before music resumes. This works on both android and iOS.

But volume control seems harder to find for some reason. haha. Maybe some of the QCY could be an option like Remless mentioned. I don't exactly recall if it's using realtek too, but i remember it supports a similar style switching. Not sure if it's the same for iOS though, as back then i didn't test that feature on an iPhone. already gave it away to a friend so can't really test.

The new T4 has an app that can change the buttons, and T5S which i'm guess is just a T5 with app support should be able to do the same. So those could be an option? just have to see if the sound is as good. haha

Yeah. I don't think anyone here tries to make that kind of distinction, whether its in-earbuds, on-ear like airpods or other solutions. Only perhaps certain people who thinks they are 'representatives' of the general crowd.


The qcy t4 app really seems to do things like the soundcore app, and probably its the same app that T5s will be using too.

Probably because fiil t1x does turning on and pairing instantly when we open the case, which is why we don't hear the on/off prompts.

Yah.. really no choice and bo bian... since tws+ works that way.

If you are adventurous, maybe take a look at taobao. Some chinese earbuds there may meet your requirement. There are some unique offerings there.... like negative ion bluetooth earbuds that's supposed to improve your well-being while u listen to music.

ah, but if that's the case even the realtek chip will still have a bit of lag for it to reconnect though. So not much difference there. will probably have to wait till the next generation of QCC chips to hit the market already. I haven't used anything with Airoha's chipset yet, but it think they have a chip that supports seamless switching too, and might be the one that FIIL T1X is using? According to Remless, their solution seems to work better.

By the way, dug around a little about the chip the T4 seems to be using the PAU 1603.

It mentions direct connect to both earbuds, and fast switching. so we'll see how well that works. also, here's hoping the app really allows 10-band EQ adjustment rather than just presets, and more importantly it will be saved to the earbuds themselves. For me I use poweramp on android, so EQ isn't an issue, but for iOS.........
