Got good and bad stuff coming out from big brands, Sony including. Their first earbuds the XM1 was rubbish, same goes for the SP700.
The 1000XM3 is good for music though, but music is subjective so if a pair of cheaper buds work for u, why not?




I am in the same situation as u. Currently looking for a pair which isn't too expensive ($100+/-), has IP rating, BT 5.0 and got some ambient pass though mode (for awareness). Still looking around.

Yep. Its really subjective.

And I think the only earpiece that meet your price and ambient mode requirement is galaxy bud plus, or the old galaxy buds. Lots of people selling them at cheaper prices in carousell. But it has pretty poor IPX2 rating..... but still, an IP rating.

Local warranty on Lazada but sales like over already, now cheapest at $259. Remless link is 609 RM which is $203 SGD with Malaysia warranty, not sure if there's international warranty.

Any ANC now is not on par with ANC headphones. The current technology is sub-par now and its not even worth paying for that technology. The only good thing about earpiece with ANC is ambient mode, which allows surroundings to be heard without removing the earpieces. Though many had bash it as a gimmick and serve no difference as removing one side of the earpieces.

It's still ANC on wireless earphones and works very well. I would never buy another earphone without ANC.

For me, I still prefer headphones when I want noise cancellation. It also serve as a 'Do Not Disturb' sign when I am wearing it.

Momentum 2 is really.... an overkill.

Saw SoundPeats True Dot at Popular and realized that there are 2 different packaging. Anyone knows what is the difference?

For longer box like Popular's version, it will be shown at the back of the box.

For the small squarish box, nothing will be stated on the box. You need to open the box and check the instruction booklet for the specs.

As long as the bluetooth chipset states its QCC3020 (whether at the back of the box or in the booklet), it is the aptx version.

I guess the Qoo10 ones are comes with APTX now

That's why I called Popular's sales a 'Sales'. Plenty of places to get the same price from, or even cheaper. But nonetheless, its still convenient to get it off the shelves readily.

I think its just packaging difference from now on. The older realtek version is probably replaced by the new qcc3020 aptx version for all new sets.

yeah. The convenience factor is there. haha. but oh well, too bad Haylou GT1 Plus not sold in stores, and even the "haylou official store" on lazada don't have that. Have to buy from third party option. I still prefer that over the TrueDots in terms of sound. Also paid like S$19 for that only by stacking new user coupon on lazada. But even at around $30 it's still a great deal as a no-frills, budget TWS with good sound. IMO.

Try this bro - Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earbuds can only carry four hours of charge, but the charging case is able to carry two full charges for each earbud, giving you 12 hours in total. Not bad!

Yeah, headphones are not for everyone. I am not recommending headphones over tws, but to me, the times I need ANC are always in cooler environments, like in-flight, long coach trips or long mrt trips. I obviously won't wear an ANC headphone and go for a jog.

For less than half the price of current ANC tws offerings, I get better noise cancellation and battery life out of the headphones.

That does not mean I am against ANC tws. Just that I feel its not time yet. The current offerings do not meet my expectations yet and do not tick all boxes in other aspects, like water-proofing, etc. I am still waiting for 'THE ONE' tws that ticks all boxes.

And my expectations of any earpiece that charges more than $200 is now sky high, given the quality and value I am experiencing in sub $100 tws. I am not going through the rubbish that sennheiser momentum gave me again. (yeah, good sound quality, but 'while it last'. Frequent disconnects, infamous battery drain issue and design flaws as added bonus to a $300+ earpiece)
