Sony c700n recommended retail price dropped by $20 to $179. Sound quality is excellent. I had expected the tiny 5mm driver to produce subpar bass with tinny highs. Contrarily, it produces a very full sound with nice separation, detail, refinement and soundstage. The sound is also very malleable with the Sony headphone app. The c700n never sounds harsh or sibilant. This bodes well for the upcoming xm5 in terms of SQ. Sony has nailed the SQ with the c700n.

I see. Makes XM4 a steal then. I have tried Sennheiser Momentum 2 before and I like it, but appearance, touch, and feel of the carry case as well as it is USB c charging compatible. Sound quality was ok but I don't really familiarise with the touch controls.

I read online but don't think 3 is a significant upgrade from 2 is it?

Didn't try mtw 2 or 3 before. If you are looking for good sound quality at a good price, can consider the Sony c700n also. $179 now.

thanks for the recommendation. Any idea where I can test out the earbuds? There used to have a stereo electronics in westgate level 1 but up lorry liow. It's under renovation to another shop

Also, considering $179 is just tens of dollars below the famous XM4. Would it not make more sense to get the tried and proven XM4 instead??
