Agree wif Gribber, if MARIX takes it up on forum, it shows they r genuinely taking ownership to resolve issue.

However, hope they can resolve it for both of you with the factory. Otherwise, its a brand killer for vstarcam.

But ultimately, the firmware n hardware portion belongs to vstarcam. It's pretty up to the factory to provide perm solution.

Makes me wonder if this is something related to milk powder.

Average cost includes shipping estimate shld b ard $45 each (night vision model) from taobao.

update from where i left off. so marix contacted me to do a swap out of goodwill (suddenly one hor last time troubleshoot for like 20x also neh offer)

so marix swapped my cam with a newer model on 5 June and it's been working fine (double cross fingers) so far. although they gave me wrong colour (original black but gave me white zzzz) and no wide-angle lens, but i'm not gonna ask them to change again lest it messes things up again. I will slot in the SD card this weekend and see if it still works ok; the last time marix said that the sd card cause the camera to be unstable i dont know why

And on hind thoughts, never buy from internet, especially from China. You will never know the status of the product you are getting. One hand to the other hand.

Thanks for your advice. For people who buy online frequently, the savings more than justify the risks. Moreover, DOA or undesired/less than ideal items are more returnable, with less hassle/arguments than at our local stores.

The problem is not clearly DOA. It may be more subtle than this.

I am currently using Foscam FI8910W. Within 2 years, this product gave me a lot of problems. ie faulty speaker, erratic brightness in the dark and now hangup after a few hours of reboot. I have RMA 2 times! I think I will give up on Foscam.

Any other camera to recommend which has similar features but with better resolution than Foscam FI8910W? My budget is $100-200.

I'm not distributor. It will not do full duplex(but let me verify). Let me check and get back to you tonight.

i read very mixed reviews about vstarcam. most of the issues are related to wifi connection. i think this is expected as the manufacturer will try to reduce cost by using cheap wifi chipset and i believe the expensive ones will cost a few dollars more.

im willing to give vstarcam a try as i have tried using foscam and their product is not lasting either. im not so concern about the connection issue as i will be wiring it up.

Fuzzywuz are you kind enough to lend me to try out? if good for 1 week, i will buy from you. :D

i will PM you!

Actually, seems tat most China branded IP cam products doesn't seems to last long. But if market wants cheap, then consumers needs to know the downside of it.
