Only Mason and Smith comes to mind. Maybe Edetal as well...

$250 sounds about the right price though. Where is the quote from?

It was quoted from a bag spa shop in Tampines.

@Kiingntr
I had the same dark spot that wouldn't absorb anymore
wax no matter how little I added. Not sure if you've got the same problem but turns out it was a build up of too much cream and wax.

Removed it using renomat and got a nice shine using cream only. Wouldn't advise you to use renomat since my original finish got removed (although a coat of cream made it look good again)

Less is more when it comes to adding stuff to leather shoes.

The spot was not as big to begin with. I applied renovateur when I first received the shoes not knowing that it would darken the shoe. A few months later, I tried to remedy it by applying renomat but the spot got bigger.

Have you considered just darkening the entire shoe?

Happened to my meermin. The spot become darker which is about the same as your captoe after i applied renovateur. It is the original coloring that came off, revealing the natural leather color. Covering it up using shoe cream doesn't works at all...

I repair it by sending them to Le Shine at far east plaza. IIRC about $35 or $40.... They will try to mix the color that is closest and respray it on that area. Caveat is that the area will be coated with paint which you can't perform spit shine. Just offer you alternative..... review of my meermin with some pictures at link below to show what happen to my meermin....

Did you try claiming a new pair from Meermin?

Actually, if the shoes are not too expensive, may be can turn it into a foul weather shoe for rainy days or travel shoes.

I normally use my older shoes for my travel because of lesser chance to rotate and also higher probability of getting nicks and kinks with airplane, new office, taxis, hotels etc.

Does anyone know any reliable shop that offers shoes recolouring service?

My shoes ran into this problem :s39: :

Was quoted about $250 to re-colour the pair. Ouch.

darken the shoe if you don't mind. Renomat, renovateur and apply dark brown cream or other dark colour.

I did that to change my Meermins

Agree. I keep a pair of cheap leather shoes in office to change when it rains or when weather looks gloomy before heading out

If it is an expensive pair, then go all out and send them to dandyshoecare for a total transformation.

He mentioned quotation of $250 for colour restoration. Assuming he cannot find a better quotation, spending $180 with edetal for a patina job will be more worthwhile.

IIRC, Dandyshoecare will set one back EUR200 upwards?

DSC is a whole new level from Ed or M&S.
But really depends on the shoe. I think turning it into a foul weather shoe is best.

Thanks for all the advice.

I tried Le shine. They qouted $80 to recolour the toe cap. But, I was quite worried that the toe cap would not match the rest of the shoes.

Will try MS and Ed. Didn't know Ed offers patina service as well.

Nope, when I highlight this to Meermin, it is too late to exchange as I have already worn them, plus I figure the shipping back for them to recoat with the finishing is more than what I repair locally...

I think he did try previously.... That was quite a long time ago...

Ya long time ago..... hehe

That's right.. Alvin had since rapidly moved up the curve past 'peasant' brands like Loake and Meermin :D

No lar, just some shoe passionate guy who is adventurous to try all sort of shoe in different route that all...

All those shoes he sold off... yummy... if only they were my size... haha

Yes one guy bought 2 pairs from me and I trusted him in taking care of them and wearing them... You know who you are if you are reading this.... :s13::)
