As long as you like them.... anything goes. If it's for work, depending on how conservative your environment is, you may want to go for something more classic.

Yeah, also too adventurous for my taste at the moment.
If really want to do, maybe can just ask him do the standard center ones if going for wholecut.

But darn, the photos of his shoes all look darn nice.

So how much total till you get the final shoe?
I saw on his blog he used mainly boxcalf for shoes.

I see, yeah I thought so too ($600 vs $1100), but maybe that's their signature/speciality on cordovan.

But since you said there are much more choices if I'm going to spend at $1000 price range, I can definitely do more to research!

Thanks for info by the way!

Hey no problem.
I'd paid 1100 euros for the final (Aurum) shoes and 350 euros for the test shoes. These are his old prices though.
He uses a lot of Annonay for his uppers. He states that his boxcalf is Freudenberg, which is now defunct, so this may be old pre existing stock that he's had for a while. He's told me that he uses Freudenberg boxcalf mainly for his black shoes.

That's way out of my budget even just for the final shoes at 1100 EUR, and the 7% tax gonna incured upon reaching SG. :(

Think will just research for shoes budget around 800-1200 SGD the most.

His argentum range goes for 700 euros currently. Aurum is his "premium" line. Second only to his bespoke work.

This is my made up design from Antonio Mecariello standard line which has been renamed to Argentum line as what bro thundermarch has mentioned.

Basically it is a made to measure order where I measure my feet accordingly to his instruction and he will just make it up. No fitting required. But it is very customizable where I can specify any design I want from the design, leather, color on upper/welt/sole. You can ask for patina design as well as long as you have the picture to show him...

Did saw a few of the Argentum range on his Instagram, but his Aurum range shoes are those that immediately caught my eye.

I guess I will see how over the months (to research), but most likely not going to spend over that budget though.

Both his Argentum and Aurum lines basically give you fairly free reign with regards to the design ideas that you have. In other words, you can MTO your own shoes. So if it is a particular design that catches your eye, you can most probably just request for that design, made to Argentum specifications. There may be some designs that are Aurum specific, I suspect, like perhpas, his mind-blowing wholecut tacticus design, but I cannot be sure.

The key differences between the 2 lines would be:

1) Aurum shoes have Aurum specific lasts that are not available for his Argentum line. That being said, I chose a non-Aurum last for my pair. You can do this too.

2) Certain detailing aspects / finer handwork (that require a lot of time), eg shaping of the waist, heel work, finishing, etc, that are done better, on his Aurum line. These things may not be immediately apparent, to be honest, unless you really looked for them.
What I'm trying to say is, his work on the Argentum line is already extremely commendable. And most certainly, far exceeds the work on makers like Edward Green, Gaziano&Girling, John Lobb. ON TOP OF THAT, they are handwelted.

3) His Aurum line shoes have hand stitched outsoles.

4) I'm pretty sure he makes an effort to use better (slightly) uppers for his Aurum line shoes.

Wow this is very informative.

I have not really thought through of own bespoke details, but currently definitely looking on wholecuts and hopefully even more fitting shoe (currently I'm on Loake's Capital Last, slightly wider on the front, narrower on the heel is what I can think to improve better fit).

Other than that, probably straight from my mind better leather/material (very perspective I guess), and maybe certain patina finishes (definitely nothing so blink or adventurous like some designs at dandyshoecare la haha).

I definitely can keep in view for the Argentum line at 700 EUR.

Are the test shoes mandatory for either or both lines? If so the cost would be definitely be bumped up beyond eur1k though u r getting 2 pairs of shoes of cos, which can be diff design but same last/shoe type.

I'd forgotten to mention.
Both these lines can be executed MTM. He will send you detailed instructions on the foot measurments needed.
So you won't be having any " wider here, narrower there" problems. And you won't need to guess on sizing, or search forums for sizing "advice", which usually turns out to be quite crap anyway, once you try on the shoes.
