Appreciate comments on the fit, a bit hard on the ankle, snug fitting, no pain felt on toes.

But how are they military grade? Do they have a high level of waterproof/water resistance to wet weather?

Curious, whats the obsession with military grade?

Military stuff are typically all "lowest-bidder" style of quality. Good example is the dismal quality of our current Front-tear boots. Folks in the field even buy their own gear because of this.

Ill take any stitched boot (sans blake) anyday over modern fused sole army boots for trekking.

The links others have provided are very good. You can consider ankle/chukka boots as well and they have a military provenance. Just make sure u know the dressing rules for balmoral/derby lacing, though majority in the CBD dont really give a rat's ass if you ask me.

Maybe for the first time. Future coats one is enough.

Typically the basic kit is reno + cream + wax.

Reno on the shoe (not too often) + cream + wax

I let the pairs sit for abt 20-30 min bwt applications

You do look like you have a high-ish instep though I think you haven't really tightened the laces fully. There seems to be quite a bit of slack in the laces still, especially on the left.
You'll have a better idea of the fit once you tighten the laces properly.
Otherwise I think it looks acceptable.
What's most important though, is how you feel after wearing them for a day.

Truth.

Though I must say, I feel even a blake stitched pair would be superior to the crap army boots we have.

But is it necessary to apply reno for brand new shoes? I normally just cream and wax.

Hi. Anyone bought boat shoes from loake before? If I'm 8.5 on capital last, do I take the same size for boat last? Thank you.

Thanks TM, yes I do have high instep. Cool with wear it for a day and see how it feels like. If this is the 'right' fit then I must have got my previous shoes on the wrong side

Dont have to reno for brand new pairs. In fact, reno strips the top most layer of polish so as to present a fresher surface for wax/cream, which is why its advised not to spam it often as well

Doing it on a brand new pair could jolly well damage ur new shoe's factory finish.

For general conditioning I tend to use pure conditioners like Bick4 instead

A metal toe plate / toe tip is a small hemispherical shaped piece of metal that is screwed in flush at the tip of the outsole.
For those whose gait causes excessive wear at the toe area, the toe plate is perceived to extend the life of the outsole.
However, since an equivalent thickness of outsole has to be removed (for the toe plate to sit flush) and the toe plate needs to be attached by screwing, there is also a risk of the screws damaging the inseam.

I attach a picture here.

Thanks for the info.

So its more for "delicate" sole like leather ones I guess.
